I've got a 30MM red dot lying around here and have finally decided to mount it on the Mp5. Any recommendations on mounts? I've tried searching and googleing, but there is SO much crap to wade through, I gave up after 5 pages.
I was kinda leaning towards the CA low profile mount, but I have no experience with this type of mounting system. Can you fit normal scope rings to that or not?

airsoft mounts are 20mm. if your scope rings are desighned for that you will be fine, to my knowldege most common scope rings are so you should be ok.

Low profile is what I have, and I LOVE it. I'd go for it. - Kevin ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/swata4/000_0549.jpg) ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v294/swata4/000_0836.jpg)

There's two little tabs that stick out on either side of the reciever. The scope mounts grab onto those.
I use an ICS low mount base on my SD5, I've been very happy with it. All in all, any of the mounts will work equally well, save the replicas of the HK claw-style mount. Those have a tendency to quick-release themselves (and your optics) right off the gun and onto the ground with relative frequency.

I am going to chime in and just put more wieght into what Xaos just previously said. I had a TM Claw mount and it looked pretty cool but there where three main problems. As Xaos said it seems to like to detach itself at anytime it pleases. Also mine seemed to be a little loose... like anything on a airsoft gun isnt.... and third I could never hit anything with it. I would sight it in for a pretty decent range, but I couldnt hit anything closer it seemed. The low mount should not have the same problems I was having with the taller claw mount.

I also had the TM claw mount and I can attest that everything ICE and Xaos say is correct. I switched up to a low profile mount the first chance I got and haven't looked back.

Well, it's not made by H&K, I guarantee that...unless you mean "hk" as "Hong Kong"...in which case you may well be correct.
Either way, it looks like a decent enough mount. Give it a try.
