I have a bit of I dialema. I'm getting an AEG and I also am getting some gear so that I can skirmish. I have a vest. Its black and is going to go over my woodland camo BDU. Problem is, it carrys everything I need, except mags. So I'm trying to decide wether or not to keep the vest and buy a belt with mag pouches, or buy a woodland camo vest with mag pouches built in. :-/Help much apreciated

Sell your vest and go modular, problem solved. A little bit more expensive, but well worth it in the long run. I wish I had done it when I first started.

Jacko speaks the truth. Modular is by far the best way to go. You can get a vest for gun/scenario "A" or get a modular vest and outfit it for gun/scenario "A-Z".

I like the MALICE belt gear better, its just not as hot , not as expensive, and doesn't weigh you down as much. Modular can get VERY expensive in a hurry.

I found that ALICE (MALICE is the name of Tactical Tailor's modular attachment clips) gear, though slightly lighter, was infinitely more uncomfortable, and actually "wore" heavier than it really was due to the design of the setup.
There are lots of lighter modular rigs, like the SOTech Hellcat or TT MAV...speaking from experience, the Hellcat isn't especially hot during warm weather, and it's got all the space you'll ever need for pouches. Yeah, if you get into plate carriers, or modular vests like the Paraclete RAV, it's gonna be hot, but the lighter rigs aren't bad at all, and, IMNSHO, are far, far superior to an ALICE setup.

I will add that with the Blackhawk STRIKE Commando Recon Chest Harness/Eagle Molle Rhodesian Recon Vest you can fold down the bib for a lighter loadout.
If you are just looking for the cheapest option, I suppose a $30 LBV on eBay wouldn't be too shabby

somerandomperson, what do you want more information about? Modular systems? Price? We can help you better if you could tell us what kind of budget you've got. Depending on how you look at it, you're kinda lucky it's getting near winter as that's when airsoft tends to die down so you've got time to budget and plan so you're ready to go next spring.

i just got a blackhawk strike recon chest harness this week from optactical (best price/2 day UPS) and a few strike pouches to get me started. came to the same conclusion as most everyone else that modular is the way to go. i'll have to try it out saturday at the ACO monthly to see if i like it better than my other vest/chest harness/suspender combos but it seems to be the most versatile combo that is front panel only and leaves my backside open to disapate heat or for my camelback. more gear!!!! ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

To answer Jaco,
The whole budget thing at this point doesn't matter to me, I just want to know which one to go with, so that i can plan to pursue. I just wanna know which is better in the field. i'll figure out the whole budget thing in the winter, just like you said.

You definitely can't go wrong with the STRIKE CCH, I have one as well, though I would like more pouches for it.
However, I did make a few modifications to the vest:
I ziptied the two shoulder straps together in an X for them to better retain their shape, as well as the back MOLLE channel to fit me better (I am a smaller guy, around 30 waist)

Here is another option for you.... 63$ shipped... in any of these colors or black. ![](http://airsoft-x.com/images/othervests.jpg) 3 m16 mag pouches, each one will fit 2 mags..... 4 mp5 mags, and it comes with a belt... so that you can also add more pouches to it, instead of buying another belt and pouches.
