In my experience, not having ammo limits is even worse. Even without box mags, free use of hicap mags turns every weapon into a BB hose. Personally I favor a total ban on hi-caps and box mags except on proper support weapon replicas, by which I mean replicas of real steel weapons that use belt feed and which have quick-change barrels or other means of coping with the stress of massive volumes of fire. I'd rather see a total ban on support weapons than no mag limits at all, and I say that as a SAW owner. Zorak posts for the win I would hope that we can split up GK between DF and RA, how would you guys feel about that?

Speaking just for myself, I'd rather see GK kept together. If I wanted to shoot at my teammates, I could do it during team practice for free.

I'm pretty ambivalent when it comes to splitting us up but it'd be nice for us to work together.

I don't see keeping GK together at a problem, unless we encour a massive unbalanace in teams. Even if that did happen though we could just move idividual players instead of spliting up teams. If one of you (GK guys) could register you team (# of members attending) here with side preference semiairsoft.proboards45.com/index.cgi?board=games&action=display&thread=1137727093 that would be great. That way Damo, El and I will be able to keep track of team numbers and adjust accordingly.

Were going by E-mail registration now to reduce clutter in the forums
SEMIA-OPS@hotmail.com
Just drop us a line with OP:RedOut in the subject.
All we need are your name, MIA/SEMIA name, what team you prefer (democratic army or revolutionary army) and what weapon you're using (rifle or support).
As toothbrush pointed out, we may have to move people around to keep the armies even.

Zorak what are you trying to say with hicaps? That they are unrealistic? Maybe so, but shooting plastic BBS that get knocked down by twigs or by wind is unrealistic too and is the number one reason why I have my hicap. If my BBs could go through branches, etc then I would just carry a regular mag. But they dont, so I choose to carry a hicap to compensate the poopiness in the BB. Also, I dont spray with my AK either. I know it can mess up my internals aswell as take time to wind my stupid mag. Im just saying that people carry hicaps for other reasons besides just spraying and praying.

For my AK, I can carry 680ish rounds in 2 different ways
Way 1: 1 Hi-cap (600rd) + 1 free lo-cap w/ gun = $48
Way 2: 8 Lo-caps (70rd) + 1 free locap w/ gun = $27 ea. = $216
Know what the difference is? I don't have $216 dollars to blow on mags.

You dont need to carry the ammo in mags. If you dont have enough mags to hold 680 rounds you are allowed to make up the difference with loose bbs.
I do, however, understand what you are saying hampster.

You're ignoring the really fun option - 20 STAR mags + 1 free lowcap for $110!
I think allowing one hicap is sane for events that aren't heavy mil-sim. It's the complete lack of mag limits that get insane. If everyone's toting 1500-3000 rounds of ready ammunition, there's no incentive not to spray and pray.
There's clearly debate on this topic, so I shall start a new topic and abuse my organizer authority to keep any further discussion of mag limits (other than clarifications of rules for this event) in that thread.

Ammo limits make for a better game, period. Having played both ways, I don't think I'll ever go back to using high-caps.
livonia: an AK with a drum is not a support weapon. It's not belt-fed, nor does it have a reinforced or quick-swap barrel. If you try to put out the kind of suppressive fire that a SAW or RPK is capable of through an AK, you will wreck it. And by "wreck it" I mean ruin the rifling, warp the barrel, and light the damn handguards on fire.
shanksta just because MEU has a higher number of support weapons doesn't mean that the game is stacked in their favor. If you're alone and have a support weapon, and you're facing five guys - you're going to lose. If I understand Toothbrush's set-up correctly, the MEU is only like 4 or five guys. Numbers are a far more important factor than individual firepower.
That said, make your AK look like and RPK and you're good to go.
