I was wearing UnderArmour under my BDUs at Op: Blind Fury and a couple of people asked me how it worked. I figure if two people ask, maybe enough people are passively curious to justify a review. I wore a HeatGear compression t-shirt. They claim it helps keep you cool by wicking perspiration away from the skin out to the surface of the shirt where it can evaporate. Of course, under BDUs, the sweat just stays there. As a result, I didn't feel any cooler during the game than I would have if I'd worn a cotton T. On two different occasions I was able to drop my level 2 gear and unbutton my BDU shirt, and then I immediately began to feel cooler. Even the slightest breeze seemed to blow directly on my skin, providing much more cooling effect than I'd expect. Regardless of the cooling effect, I liked the dry feeling created by the wicking effect. I never felt soaked with sweat. The shirt never bunched up or chafed. I expect to wear tactical HeatGear for every game until the weather cools off, and then get some ColdGear. The best source I've found for UA in tactical colors is the manufacturer's web store: www.underarmour.com/[Edit, just to clarify: The UnderArmour gets just as damp as my old t-shirts did. The difference is that the moisture gets wicked away from your skin, so you don't notice it. If you've never experience the beauty of good wicking materials, get some good socks (I like Thor-Lo combat boot socks) and then get your feet wet. Your feet will feel dry long before your boots dry out.]

Funny, I was getting ready to do the same thing (a review of UnderArmour Tactical Gear) I wore a LooseGear long sleeve shirt (style 5085). The team I am on was fielded in DCU pants and army brown shirts. I selected a to go with a long sleeve shirt to help avoid bug bites and poison ivy/oak/etc... Since I did not have a BDU shirt on over the UnderArmour I got the benefit of the wicking action all day long. I completely agree with Zorak, even a weak breeze had a wonderful cooling feeling. The parts of my shirt that were exposed to air stayed dry to the touch all day long. The parts of the shirt that were covered by my load bearing gear were moist, but not soaking like cotton can get, and my skin felt relatively dry. As soon as I took the load bearing gear off the shirt dried in short order. By virtue of the loose fit, the shirt did move around a bit. However, it didn't bind up or anything. The fabric is stretchy and has plenty of give. The shirt was reasonably resistant to pulls and snags as I was going through underbrush and crawling around. I intend to acquire some short sleeve t-shirt HeatGear that Zorak reviewed for use under BDUs. HeatGear currently does not come in long sleeves in tactical colors (olive drab, army brown). I ordered my shirt from www.lightfighter.com/ (but FIRST I called them to make sure they had what I wanted in stock) The UnderArmour line is also carried by Botach Tactical ( www.botac.com/). I highly recommend UnderArmour as a base layer in the summer heat. The exact address of the UnderArmour Tactical section is: www.underarmour.com/ua2/ua/gear.asp?dept%5Fid=37Mite

I had a couple of my soldiers wearing UnderArmour in the desert and they swear by it.. Under a DCU top, Body Armor and LBV they said it worked wonders when it was 140 outside..

Just a small snippet to add:
UnderArmor Socks
I bought two pair of knee-length UnderArmor socks (XL size, for me) from Botach Tactical, along with a LooseGear shirt, which I'll talk about after this weekend. Since I didn't want to wait till this weekend to wear the socks and potentially tear my feet apart, I wore them around last night after I got home from work. Now, I normally blouse my pants, but since it was late and I wasn't wearing my cammies anyways, I didn't.
The socks are made out of synthetic fibers, and are, as said knee-length. XL hits my legs right at the bottom of my knee. I'm 6'5", so that should give you a fairly good idea of what siuze might be right for you. They are actually quite roomy in the foot section, and fit my size 13's fine.
The socks are designed to not fall down into your boot, which was a problem I had before, but had remedied with a pair of InGenius socks. The problem with the InGenius socks is that they're fairly thick and my feet sweat tremendously in them. Thus, the more lightly constructed UA socks were purchased for summer.
So, I wore them around with my boots tightly laced and they felt great. No odd rubbing anywhere, as they adhere tightly to my ankle and foot. The socks are fairly thin, and I couldn't tell if they made my foot cooler or not, since it was only a 15 minute walk. They did stay up, as advertised, and moved with me just fine.
Now, as a sort of endurance test, I wore them to work. I wear Vans during the week, which are some of the most comfortable shoes on the planet, but my feet do occassionally get hot, since I work in a goddamned warehouse environment.
Seeing as how I've had these things on since about noon today, and they've yet to lose their elasticity and fall down, good for them. What's more interesting, however, is that if I pull up my pant legs, my calves become noticeably cooler. Intrigued, I took my shoes off, and my feet were engulfed in the sweet feeling of cool. They definitely help cool you off quickly! Of course, I don't know how often I'll be taking my boots off in the field, but I mostly bought them so they don't get sucked down around my ankles and they seem to perform marvelously. I recommend them.

UnderArmour makes about six different types of socks. Do you have an UnderArmour model name or number for the ones you like?

On Botach, they're listed as Under Armor 0009 All Sport Sock.
Jesus, did I really write 6 paragraphs about a pair of socks? God...

I think an awful lot of soldiers (and hikers, for that matter) would gladly confirm the importance of what you have on your feet. I certainly would, after breaking in a pair of Corcoran jump boots...

Well funny enough, I have almost totally moved away from any of your regular underwares and boxers. For the last three months, all I have worn is underarmour. Both at work, and in the field. It works great and most importantly, really helps to keep me from chaiffing. Not much else can be said about it, that hasnt been said already.
My only thing is that at $20+ each, its kind of expensive.

I play varsity hockey for mt caramel in wyandotte. I weat a turf gear long-sleeved tshirt. I chose turfgear because it keeps me cool when I play indoors, and warm when I play out on the ponds. I havnt tested it with airsoft yet because I havnt ordered my gun yet, but when I do, I will.

I always wear underarmour. It keeps you cool and is relatively cheap. Keeps your vest form rubbing on you. You can pick up a long sleeve t for like $30 at like dunhams or m.c's sporting goods.

Sorry to revive this elderly post, but I got an under armor long-sleeve from galyans. It rocks. I got olive green coldgear. It keeps me warm when I'm cold and keeps me cool when I'm warm! ;D I even started wearing it to bed because when I sleep, I sweat and my arms stick to my sides. Under armor is the best investment you'll ever make!!

Sure does. Zorak's not exactly svelte and I'm not the thinnest man in the world either.

We kicked off 3 times in the game and i was really warm that whole game jsut standin there. I was by the way wearing cold gear but it wasnt in military colors obvioulsy.
