I'm waffling like a Belgian on the subject of what sort of sling to get for my SR-16. I want solid positive retention of the gun in the dead zone or march route, but I also want to be able to easily shoulder it on either side.
The single point sling designs seem to offer the easiest off-shoulder mounting. Does anyone have one, and if so, do you find that the weapon hangs nicely out of the way? Or does it swing around and get in the way when you aren't using it?
If people report bad experience with that time, I'm looking at the CQB solutions sling with a release buckle that expands the sling for off-side mounting. Does anyone have one of those? Does the extra slack created by the release buckle get in the way during a crawl?
Thanks for any feedback people can give me.

Viking raves about the BHI SWIFT slings, and I have to say, the one-point sling was nice for shouldering, but hell when not playing. Walking around, bending over, the gun got banged around quite a bit. I plan on making my own 3-pt. sling and another 1-pt. and we'll see how they do.

I haven't found my 3-point to be advantageous...sure, it's nice to be able to sling the weapon over your back, but I often found myself restricted by it...couldn't switch hands, it was a pain when prone, and tended to just be an annoyance when I least needed it.
If I invest in a 3-point sling for my M4, I'll make sure to get some QD swivels so I can drop the sling quickly and easily when I feel it's necessary to do so.

i have only used points, mostly because i have nothing else... when i play i hold my gun, and really only use the sling when i am not - because it will fly around

What's this? You argue against both options? You are not true geardo advisors! Fired! All of you are fired!
I have chosen the geardo path of honor: Order one of each and decide for myself.
On a more serious note, thanks for the comments. Really.

Good choice, Zorak. When in doubt, buy it all!
Seriously tho... I've got a 3 pointer for my G36, and I've had basically the same experience as xaos with it. During woodland games I basically wear it just like a 1 pointer. It hangs a bit lower than it should, but I can switch hands semi-easily like that.
For CQB, I would assume that using a 3 pointer would be better, especially with a quick release buckle.
