okay, here it goes:
for pants, I wear about a 30/30, and theoretically a size small regular pair of BDU pants would fit, is that correct?
and I am about 5'7, dunno my chest size, but a small BDU shirt would also work right?

Yeah that should be the right size. If you really dont know you could check out a site like www.uscav.com they should have a size chart. I'm almost possitive that those will be the right size for you.

For 30x30 pants size, I would say get a medium regular. This way they'll be a little more baggy and allow a larger freedom of movement, as well as give you growing room.

a general rule of thumb I use when sizing up BDU shirts is that I just subtract one size from my t-shirt size or I just use my t-shirt size
take me for example
I wear an XL t-shirt, I fit into a Large or XL BDU shirt
hope that helps

If you don't know your size, just go to an Army Surplus store and try something on until you find the fit you like.

Do you know your inseam size?
If you're about 5 foot, you could go with a Small Regular, however, you may even need a small short. If you are able to, have somebody else use a measure and measure your chest/inseam, once you know those two measurements BDU sizing is a breeze.

Alright thanks Motown
I'd have to say my inseam is like 28" (whopping I know)
So thanks for helping I think I got it from here.

Small Regular/Small Short sound about right for a 29inch inseam. I think a medium short would work as well, though the bdu jacket/waist would be bigger.
If you do get a chance, you really should get somebody to get your measurements with a measuring tape (which goes for anybody)

Go one size larger... least thats what i like to do... (or get a 'tall/long' cut.
makes them easier to tuck into boots/blouse
