Operation: Northern Wind IIThe breeze in the jungles of Springfield, OH carries an aroma of defeat of an elite company by an old warrior…..a result NO ONE anticipated. Warriors from Echo and Fox companies humped hills that would tire even the best from Tehachapi. August 5~7, 2005, sets the stage for a re-match between seasoned warriors, Green Beret legend Col. (ret.) Paul Longgrear and US Army Ranger’s best MSG (ret.) “Mad Max” Mullen. To complicate matters, War Lord Miller (Sgt. Kenn Miller, author of Tiger the Lurp Dog, Six Silent Men and etc.) will stir things up with his illusive Shadow Squad. With “PUNISHER” by his side, War Lord Miller plans to give both Echo and Fox a run for their negotiation skills! OPNW ended MSG Mullen’s winning streak (OPI Oct 03, OPLC III May 04). It is said that the CO. is only as good as the warriors they lead. Do troops of FOX Company have what it takes to avenge last year’s defeat? Northern Wind offers extreme physical challenges, wide array of hilly trails, canopies so thick that day is turned into night, and a flat corn field to test your will in a mad dash for POWs. Who lasts, wins! Mark your calendar because this will be an event you don't want to miss. More information will be available soon on John Lu's website. www.oplionclaws.com

and a flat corn field to test your will in a mad dash for POWs. That was the stupidest scenario of the entire op last year, and not only are they re-running it, they mention it in the promo. Nice!

Yeah, they just lost a participant with that sentence. I'm not paying over $100 for the priviledge of getting heat stroke in a corn field again.

You are just still bitter because you lost ;D If I was bitter about every time I lost, I'd be one bitter SOB. Oh, wait... No, you guys kicked our butts fair and square... but I think the event's structure placed too much emphasis on PT and luck, and not enough on tactics. If it was a $25 event an hour away, I'd still go, but for that price, that drive, and the cost of a hotel, it's an absolute rip-off. I'd be more likely to go if they fired John Lu and hired Kung-Fu to write the scenarios. (Although actually, if we want to be "mil-sim", let's play all day like men, not break every hour and a half.)

Boy, that cornfield event was a hassle, we had to drag hostages, then sit there for 40 minutes waiting for a hiding enemy. The rest of the events were pretty entertaining. Hope Wu says I can come again

I couldn't agree more with most of you. The most annoying thing for me that weekend were the walks back and forth before and after each scenario. That was just pointless, and tires you out much more then needed. And come on, chickens? Now Im not plugging for the Strikers, but Im restating what one of my team-mates said during a team discussion about this years events we are going to try and attend: First off, why would you want to pay $100 for an OK event, with non-realistic scenarios, focussing way too much on trying to simulate the real military, a raffle that left most unhappy and the POW rescue scenario, when you can pay $50 for Blind Fury II, where its a great event, with very realistic scenarios, a third party that actually plays an important role in the game (you can't beat the russians), staying in the field for up to 10 hours, which in my book is way more realistic then worrying about having the correct chain of command, and a raffle that left no one unhappy. As you can probably already tell, my team will not be attending this one, and saving our money and training time for Irene III, which we can already tell will actually be worth our while.
