I'm sure we have all seen the new 'land warrior' system that is being adopted by the US military. One of the components of this system is a camera mounted on the M16 and connected to a HUD projected in front of the soldier’s eye. This allows a soldier to engage targets without exposing himself to danger. So, it stands to reason that this could be done with airsoft guns. In fact, it has (sort of) cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2709682352&category=31688while I am not up on all that crazy WOW lasertag stuff, this guy does have a very good idea that would adapt well to airsoft. In fact, I'll bet some of our industrous board members have already done this, am I right?

I'm the crazy guy who (almost) attempted it. I was about to shell out $150 for the electronics when I finally decided that the problems inherent with the design would make it not worth it. It's either long range and tiny shot area or low range and big shot area. Since everyone wears only one sensor on each side (or just one total), if I shot a guy in the leg at 5 feet...it most certainly wouldn't detect it. Very, very cool design, though.

I think he was talking about the camera system so that you can stick out your gun and not your body to take "blind" shots, I have nothing else to say even though you would be able to see perfectly fine. The camera system is a good idea that would be really cool to use for cqb or heavy outdors use., mainly where corners and walls would play a major role. i fit were under like 150 bucks and worked amazing, then i would actualy consider this but as of now i am looking for a nice, cheap way of thermal or somethnig for my sniper rilfe so that i have th eadvantage at night and in the day

He was mainly talking about the LandWarrior system, but I interpreted his second part as referring to the lazer tag (WoW) stuff. *shrugs* Oh well.

Sorry for the unclear post. Give the cookie to derick, because I was talking about the camera system mounted on the gun. I didn't think it was so unclear . . .

I had some thoughts of doing this for paintball and real steel. The way I decided would be best would be to use a "Glasstron Head Mounted Display" and some other gear the only problem was cost you could make it do damn near anything but it would be pricy to do. I still intend on getting the gear to try it because I also have other plans for the gear in a "wearable computing" project. You could incorporate a GPS so you could track your exzact position, Also one thing that I thought would be great would be thermal sensors, such as those "game trackers" then you could also pick up body heat:) Anyways catch ya later.

Very funny, though I will say on the realistic side all of what I said is absolutly possible. I thought about bringing it up to a friend of mine that runs Nelson paint, to see if he would fund a project to build a device simular to it for his own painball use. The main problem is cost, just a normal kit optimised for paintball would cost in the ballpark of $1500+ maybe a bit more. But eventually I will create one, be it will a sponsor or with my own income. Luke
