Ok, I ordered my MP5A5 HG SWAT v. off Airsoftshop.com, and it said I could also upgrade the gun to 400fps for $25, so of course I chipped in the $25. So, earlier that day, I was looking at some forums on different sites about the TM MP5A5. One thread caught my eye, I opened it and some guy was bitchin about if you upgrade your gun it's going to wear out the gearbox really fast. So, now I am freaked out since I just spent $350 on a gun and now if the gearbox gets all messed up, I am going to buy all those parts and all that other shit. I am not the person that knows how to fix complex things like AEG's. So, tell me if this gearbox of mine is going to F |_| C |< up and i'll be stuck without a working gun. I would appreaciate it.

The Airsoftshop 400fps upgrade is just spring and bushings, from what I've heard. That makes it considerably more susceptible to gear stripping than a stock gun. Any upgrade will cause your gearbox to wear out quicker than a stock 'box, it's just a fact of life.
That said, you shoulda done a bit more research. By reading a few threads around here, you would probably have reconsidered ordering a 400fps upgrade, as your gun will be un-usable at most MiA events, and definitely not usable in CQB, which would be the MP5's forte.
Anyhow, it basically all comes down to luck. You may strip your gears out after 1000 rounds, they may last 100,000 rounds. It's a crapshoot, really.

It said where you buy the upgrade they say they revove the fuse.

and removing the fuse makes the gun even more susceptible to damage. The fuse blows when there's a power over load, i.e. when the gears jam up. If the fuse blows the power to the motor gets cut off. If the fuse doesn't blow, the motor keeps turning and it chews up the gears.

So how long do you think my gearbox will last? I play about every weekend for 2 hours or so. I conserve my ammo, I use about 1 50 rd mag a game (only 6 people or so play). Or does it even matter and in the middle of shooting it's just going to strip? My cousin has an Mp5Sd6 and he got it upgraded from airsoftshop to 350fps and his still works great, he has had it since last X-mas.

With stripping gears, within my experience, there really is no scientific way to conclusively say. It *should* last for at least 6-8 months of "regular" use, but, you could also become unlucky and have it happen a week after you get your gun.

I just hope it will last me 6-8 months, I hope more but if my gun breakes in a week. I'll go on a rampage. P.S: xaos, they have a TM muzzle decelerator that I could get if I want to play at MiA events.
