I'm planning on ordering a pistol and some accessories/mags from UNCompany in the next few days. Given the fact that this is my first overseas order, I'm quite nervous about it. So, some questions. 1. Choice of trade-covering...which is safest, tape, or the "permanent" putty stuff (I hear UNCo.'s putty isn't nearly as bad as WGC's)? 2. *If* I prove to have the worst luck in the world, and customs seizes my gun, will they seize the entire package, or will they simply take the gun, and leave the accessories/etc. for me? I think that's it. From what I've read here, and in other forums, UNCo. seems like the HK retailer I want to deal with. I know I'd probably get better/more definite/more answers on a larger forum like the one at airsoftplayers, but, after lurking/posting a bit here, I trust and value the opinions of the MiA posters infinitely more than I do the faceless names at airsoftplayers and other sites. As always, thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide

As an alternative to ordering from HK for those of us who are broke:) (Which should be all of us) I've found www.zorks.com to be a good state side retailer, good service and they have a three payment plan that not to many people know about. Makes it a hell of allot easier to purchase your gear now, and pay for the next 3 months. As far as over sea's make sure you order from a good company, airsoftplayers.com has been listing allot of horror stories lately about certain retailers. Also they have a retailer rating(I think that's there). None the less UNCompany shouldn't be bad though I will say WGC has always in my opinion been on the top of the list, seems to be a little bigger, definatly not gonna screw you over. But, their trades have come really screwed up lately and their orange flash hider's have been glued on and whatnot. So thats my 2 cents:) Luke

Uhm, I think xaos is already set on where he wants to order from (and he made an excellent choice), so the question isn't where to buy from, it's about the putty and "what if."
xaos,
go with the permanent putty. You want your gun, and that is the best way to get it into your hands the quickest. UNC's putty is extremely easy to remove once you get your fingernail under it, so don't worry about that. If you go with tape, you might as well not cover the trades at all if the box gets inspected. If he trade marks are covered in tape, it shouldn't pass through *_IF_* it gets inspected.
If customs siezes the package, initially they'll take the whole thing, and might allow the accessories to go through if you're a smooth talker on the phone. Usually the entire thing either gets sent back to Hong Kong or occasionally gets destroyed. It's all based on luck. IF it get's inspected, IF the customs agent has a thing against replica guns, IF he's having a bad day, then you're screwed.
But if you have the "permanent" putty and the blaze orange muzzle, then it should pass right through under inspection.

Yeah, I'm definitely set on who I'm going with, especially after the e-mail I just recieved from the UN Co. sales dept. FWIW, I sent the original e-mail at about 4am this morning, I just got home at 5pm, and a response was waiting for me. They happily answered all my questions in easily readable (if not perfect ) english, and the answers I recieved were excellent, especially concerning the 93R I'll most likely be ordering. Turns out they sell the 2nd version (aka the older one) for $200, and the 1st version for $148. Their model names and stuff were different from WGC, so I was a bit confused. I was preparing to order the 2nd version, but when I asked the difference in the e-mail I sent, they let me know that the *cheaper* gun was the new version, and that the only reason they still stock the old one, and sell it for a higher price, is that they have a very small number of the old guns left, and they hope to reserve those for collectors that want both versions of the gun. Needless to say, I was happy that they were completely honest with me...it's something that one expects to see the other side of (i.e. retailer says "more expensive gun is teh bestest!). Knief, thanks for the info...not only is it reassuring (especially since it supports what UNCo. told me), it's just nice to know what I can expect. Luke...actually...ordering from UNCo. should turn out to be cheaper (and faster, barring customs trouble) than ordering stateside. UNCo. has everything I want in stock right now, and for an average of $10 an item cheaper....assuming $70 shipping, I'll still save $30 or $40 over ordering from any of the stateside retailers I've checked...plus I won't have to wait for the retailer here in the states to order my items, recieve them, then ship them to me...of course, I'm sure you've heard that a hundred times Anyhow, I'm not broke yet...but I will be soon
