[ So as some of you may know I am now living in florida, for the past year. Last saturdayI was actually able to go out and meet some really cool guys from the city I am living in. Airsoft like it used to be in michigan I could say. Anywho this is my first attempt at telling a tale of valor so bear with me.]
My assault team was inserted in to the jungles of columbia to rescue a American reporter who was taken captive by the rebels. We rescued him with very little resistentance until they discovered he was missing. We where still a days hike from our extraction point where a helo could get to us. The wounded reporter was slowing us down. We had one option. Stand and fight. We found suitable terrain for our ambush. A trail that was on a ridge that was surronded by drop offs on either side. The trail was 10 feet wide at most. They would have to cluster here if they didn't want to get wet. My squad members setup on either side waiting for the rebels to come. I took the high ground on the trail to fire the first rounds, ideally making them take cover on either side of the embankment, where another death would await them. I waited and waited, and finally I saw movement, first one, then two, and finally 4 of them where in my sights. I took aim and fired. The first burst went clearly over their heads, the first 2 hit the deck and returned fire. I emptied the rest of my mag, and then had to run for more cover. The rest of the rebels did exactly as I wanted. My squad members started racking up the kills left and right. I though had a situation. The first two rebels I missed wanted to kill me at all cost. I dove behind a small piece of cover and layed there as round after round after round passed inches above me. I could only hope they did not wise up and try to flank me, for surely I would be dead. Finally my squad member who was 20 yards to my 3' o clock opened fire on the last 2 tangos on the hill side. I jumped up to rejoin the fight, and could not get a good line of sight on them.
I knew this was not going to end well if this fight contiued. They had the high ground and we couldn't even see there firing positions. I rushed up the embankment and quickly recovered my weapon when I reached the top. Clear shot at my first tango. Emptied my magazine and it was a clean kill. I saw the second tango which happend to be their leader still firing at my man pinned down. The adrenaline took cover, I threw down my M4 carbine and switched to my side arm. This had to end now. I rushed him closing in at about 25 yards I pull up my Usp and pull the trigger. Nothing... I try again. It still did not fire. At about 15 yards out I realized my safety was still engaged. Fumbling with it, I could only hope luck was on my side. I closed in at 5 yards now going for hand to hand combat and to take him by force... Then it happend, he heard me, swung around and fired 5 rounds into my plate carrier. At this range his ak-47 tore through it like jell-0, as I am failing to my death I see a round strike him in the side of neck. Good to know I won't be the only one going to hell today.
