The Road to Dushanbe...
Intro: The air was crisp that early Saturday morning, but soon things would be heating up for our fellow Spetsnaz komrads. Sniper team Sierra (Frostee and I) datached from the main group to prevent any US forces from crossing over to our East end of the clearing but had seen little action for the most part of the morning.
I know Frostee had taken out several members of the US Force (possibly some Russian troops too, hehe) but I was still on my first very magazine of the day. Having used only a small portion of it to accidently pepper my own wounded team mates....woops!. Feeling a little gung-ho I suggested we cross over the main clearing and scope out the area...
We darted across the clearing like woodland wearing ninjas and moved back into the darkness of the woods where we heard gunfire coming down from the south. After taking a few more steps I notice a figure laying prone a couple meters away from me facing South. At first I thought it was Bigmack, but later I noticed the SAS shemagh and realized it was Viking so I started to call his name.....
"Viking!"......no response..... "Viiiiiiking"......still nothing. So I turn to Frostee letting him know it's all ok and that it's only Viking. Not wanting to spook the poor lad I once again called "Vikiiiiiii-" His name hadn't even left my lips when to my shock and horror I see Viking rolling over aiming my very own AUG in our direction. "Aah Shite" I thought to myself as I get lit up by our wunderkind.
** I'm Dead **
Russian Base : Shortly after my death Viking joined me in the afterlife after having been taken out by a swarm of US Forces. Using our elite Spetsnaz training to the fullest I was able to employ a "Jedi Mind Trick" which allowed Viking and I to avoid capture and make it safely back to our base.
After stocking up on a few supplies and dropping off my SVI (which had been getting in the way most of the morning)we were soon on our way again taking the main trail leading from the Russian base which I liked to call : The Road to Dushanbe. (Spies like Us Rules!) Viking decided to regroup with his komrads at the Chemical Depot while I slowly made my back to Frostee. I could have swarn it was only a few seconds after Viking had left when I noticed some movement not too far ahead of me. I stood there motionless as five to seven US servicemen made their way onto the trail. I could have swarn each and every one of them saw me standing there since they all looked right in my direction. Luckily I must have been invisible that day as noone made any hostile movements but instead went on their merry way.
What happened next wasn't really the smartest thing to do seeing how it was 1 vs 7, but at the time it was a good idea. I aimed my M4 RIS at the enemy letting the red dot of my aimpoint paint the center mass of one their soldiers and let off a burst. The tango went down while several of his team mates dove for cover as I let out a few more bursts in their direction.(I later found out the tango was commenting to his to the rest of his group how he should get out of the sunlight before someone takes him out. Hehe!) I didn't even have time to smirk as I soon had a hail of plastic flying towards me. We exchanged fire while I fled out of sight and back to safety. I stood there once again as motionless as can be behind a large tree when I noticed a figure running down the trail only to pass a few feet away from me. Not sure wether he was friend or foe I decided to remain silent.
I heard a voice call over the radio “Are there any Russian Forces near the base?”, to which I replied “Yep, I'm right in front of you”. I soon had Xaos and Talisman covering my flanks while I explained the situation. We were about to move out when once again the dark figure I had noticed earlier was returning back up the trail. Again my invisible ways proved worthy as the tango passed by me even closer than before. (Forget his name, camo pants, black sweater, black balaclava and some strange looking goggles). We decided to follow the figure, staying a few feet behind him at all times, yet still not really knowing if he was friend or foe. Never the less our sights were aimed at his back the entire time, which proved to be a good move when we noticed that he was returning to the US Force I had previously encountered on the trail. To my surprise they had absolutely no one covering their six which allowed us to get into position and engage at will...
Soon there were dead bodies covering the forrest floor like a blanket of woodland camouflage, but before I could take in the view I was too taken taken out and slumped behind a tree.
** I'm dead.. again**
After a brief fire fight the area was once again controlled by the US Force. My “dead time” had already expired and I was technically allowed back in the game, however I dared not to move since I had a bunch of trigger happy Americans watching my every move, just waiting for me to raise my rifle. So, I just sat there waiting to see how things developed, waiting for my chance to break free. “Why the hell did I leave my SVI back at basecamp??” I wondered to myself. For I'm sure I would have been able to take at least three tangos out and flee to safety if I had it by my side. ;D
The troops were given strict orders to watch my every move, but soon started taking fire leaving me with slightly more freedom to move my hand down towards the pistol grip of my M4. Every time my guard turned to face the action my hand inched closer and closer till I had my finger on the trigger just waiting for my chance to take him out. My chance never came, for my guard was taken out leaving me free to take on any surrounding tangos.
The Road to Dushanbe was again littered with dead bodies. A beautiful yet disturbing sight, not to mention a perfect ending to an amazing day of airsoft.
Thanks ACO!
