AMBUSH!!!!!

Ok, we need a good one here =)

Op: Firebrand. Team SBD (myself, xaos, and one other member) + Luke and his friend were guarding the chemical tanks. After 3 hours of no action, Xaos, luke's friend (nick, i believe? We'll call him nick ;p) and I got relieved by our patrol that was running the area. So, we decided to head up the powerline and complete an objective (locate and remove any/all jamming devices on the poles).

So we get to the clearing.... We all expected to get hosed as soon as we got into the powerline... but nothing happened. We started working our way up the line, checked pole # 1 - removed one jamming device. Moved up a bit more, checked pole # 2 - removed one jamming device. Moved, checked pole #3 - Nothing there.

As we moved up, about halfway between pole 3 and 4, there was a stand of cat tails and some brush on our side of it... We had just moved past the brush as a small squad of enemies walked past. As they walk past, i get on the horn and ask if we had a M60 shorty on our team (last guy had one). Unfortunately, i got an answer too late and we missed pasting them =(.

Anywhoo... About 20 seconds after that, we moved up a bit (just to the cat tails) and we hear someone open fire ~20 yards from us... BB's skim past our heads, and an enemy yells "CONTACT LEFT!". Xaos drops to a knee, I drop to a knee, nick i think goes prone.... And I look at xaos just in time to see a sniper shot bounce off his back. Then... All hell breaks loose ;p We had someone to our left just inside the tree line hosing us down, we had some guys on our right spraying our general area(which, later turned out to be friendlies - i think it was GK ;p) and a sniper trying to land shots on us. Needless to say... it was slaughter ;p Xaos and I were out ~1 minute into the fight, nick survived (found a tractor rut to lay in), and I guess crawled around for a while before getting knife killed ;p

Worst part about it, As we were walking back to base camp to get ammo/water, we saw the patrol we let by come outta the woods and start attacking the chem tanks ;p Turns out luke took down 2 of the 3 as they came by, but i'll let him fill in the details there =)

Anyone else got some cool stories from op:firebrand? I'm particularly fond of the whole viking using me as a sandbag while i was dead story, but I don't wanna type too much and lose your attention spans!

Well here goes:)

We were gaurding the chem supply, we realised the person that had our props left a few hours before:) So there was no point in gaurding the chem storage. So the 4 guys guarding the chem supply me, the guy with the AK(I can't remember who it was now), Munin, and matt(Guy who bought Viking's SR-16). So we head out in 2 man sqauds, split up to go up the power line, me and Munin headed down the trail next to it looking for tango's, we met some resistance and bailed back to cover, he flanked left and I right. I heard him take a hit and go down, I was advancing down the side of the power line when I started taking fire, so I dove down into a ditch, waiting for someone to pop over the top with my gun. No one came, 30 seconds, no fire. So I low crawled to the tree line on the other side, made a radio to find out if Munin was still alive(I didnt' think he was) and he was down. So I sat at the tree line, not sure where anyone on my team was, and waited for contact from someone(figured I would catch up with Munin after he came back in). I waited for about 5 min. I was also waiting for my goggles to defog a little, since they were getting pretty bad. As I'm sitting there in some ferns next to a tree in ready position(as I had set for 3 hours that morning) I see a squad of 4-5 guys advancing on the ridge about 20 yards in front of me. If I had moved or made noise I'm quite sure I would have gotten mowed down:) But I waited they advanced past me and started taking fire from GK(I think?) and I moved up behind them on the ridge, shot one guy with a burst, looked at a second guy peeking out from a tree and lit him up. He was the camera man:) So as he was yelling that he was the camera man, and I was saying sorry, I started taking fire from in front of me and to the right, I dropped to the ground and returned fire to the right with full auto, the fire to the right stopped, as I turned left I took a shot to the jaw and some to the shoulder. So I called out and went to go unfog my goggles, as I got up I saw I got the guy to my right. So there is my main story of the day, 2 kills confirmed and a camera man.

EDIT: And yeah the guys I brought with me was Nick:) And since I don't think he even knows the URL here, I will say he had fun to for his first game. He kept telling me it reminded him of when he was in the military minus the organisation:) I have nothing else to say

Definatly would like to try your no fog, part of it was just it was hotter down there than I was used to. I had sweat running down my inside of my lense at times, and just general insane amounts of moisture. But yeah I'll check it out, or buy a thing of it from ya for $5 ;D

Couple of short ones from me...

Early on in the day, our group (Myself, Talisman, Luke, Nick, and our teammate Aaron) was set up defending the chem tanks. Talisman and I were patrolling the area, while Luke, Nick, and Aaron had set up watch concealed in various spots in the trees. We also had a Russian Patrol ranging over the whole field, between our force and the GK guys on the northeast side of the field. Talisman and I got a radio call that the friendly patrol was making it's way through our area, so we set out to let the other members of our squad know. We had notified Luke and Nick, when we heard a burst of gunfire erupt near Aaron's position. Talisman took off at a dead run, hoping the worst hadn't really happened. Turns out it had...Aaron managed to get the first two kills of the day...on our own Patrol.

Number two:

Again at the chem tanks...roughly an hour and a half/two hours later. We hadn't had contact all day. The Russian force up on the northwest side had seen heavy battle for some time, securing and bombing the downed american chopper and completing some of our objectives. We, unlike the others, were almost bored, however, having seen no hint whatsoever of the enemy near our position. So, Talisman and I took a short breather from patrolling, and stopped for a drink and a smoke. We were just standing there BSing with Luke, when all of a sudden, Luke's rifle snaps up and he barks "Movement!". Immediately I turned, dropped to a knee, and scanned the treeline. Once I located the movement, I dropped prone behind the bank of dirt surrounding the tanks and put my rifle on the Tangos. Talisman had spun and quickly ran for cover behind a metal staircase leading up to the top of the tanks, and Luke had stepped back behind the tanks into cover. The three of us waited breathlessly for the pair of soldiers to emerge from the trees, Talisman calling on the radio, trying to figure out if they were friendlies or not. The pair never did come out from the trees, and ended up being Munin and Matt, who relieved Talisman and I so we could go get killed. It's a good thing they didn't come out of those trees...else they would have prolly eaten 3 full mags of bb's


Yeah, it was quite warm...was cold on the way down, but once the sun got going it got hot in a hurry. I know the two times I took my goggles off to wipe my face down (both in safe areas!! ), I practically had puddles growing on my cheeks. I didn't have any fog problems though...but I think I would have had I chosen to go with my lower-profile gogles.
