Are GAS SMG good? i know that they are rare... i am looking at a Mp5a5 "You are bidding on a beautiful, very rare, Heckler and Koch MP5A5 gas operated airsoft submachine gun made by JAC of Japan. JAC is a legendary name in the airsoft community known for making some of the most powerful and realistic airsoft guns imaginable. They are highly sought after today because of their near indestructability and superiority over AEG's made by Tokyo Marui. This airsoft gun is amazingly well built and is perfect for both serious airsoft skirmishers and film memorabilia collectors alike. It is identical in size and feel to the real thing." it says so i was just wondering if these guns are reiliable in all thanks

First of all...do some research on JAC and you'll get an answer.
Second, yes, they are good. JAC was one of the early gas airsoft gun companies and made all of their guns gas only(correct me if I'm wrong on this.). Even though they're around 20 years old (dunno, correct me if I'm wrong, again), they're still kick ass guns. I've been looking to get one...just haven't found one I like and....no cash for one right now.

Be sure to do as much research on classic airsoft guns as possible before going out and spending your hard earned cash. While it is nice to own something exotic like a classic airsoft handgun or rifle I wouldn't recommend buying one if it'll be your only primary weapon. The JAC MP5 is a nice gun (I should know, I used to own one - see here www.pbase.com/hadoken/jac), overall it feels a bit more solid than the Marui version. To me however the plastic/abs body seemed a tad more brittle than the stuff available today. Another thing you'd need to realize is that the JAC MP5 series does not have hop up and has no room internally to install an LRB meaning you'll be lacking in the range department. SCS barrels which have a simular effect as hop up are available, but are extremely rare and VERY VERY pricey. Last but not least, to make the Jac MP5 skirmish worthy you'll need at least a few magazines (semi hard to get a hold of and cost $50 and up each) + an external gas rig. So, if you're on a budget you'd be better off sticking with some of the newer AEGs. However if you like to tinker around with guns, have experience with external gas rigs/regulators then by all means go with the Jac. That particular model might not be up to todays standards, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it. OK, I'm done now. Yep, I ramble sometimes. Turning into DumboRat here or something. Ha.

Yea but...DumboRat isn't boring when he rambles ZING! ::rimshot:: Kiddding, kidding, seriously folks, they're both just as boring. WAZAH! ::rimshot:: ;D C'mon, gotta give me something for that, I mean, perfect timing, great set up, I'm on a roll here. I kid because I love, and have nothing else to do Joshing aside, DumboRat and Hadoken are very respected and quite knowledgable folks, and able to take some friendly ribbing I hope I can say that the JAC MP5 is probably closer in weight/feel/dimensions to the real thing. If your looking for the spitting image of the real steel gun, that this is what you want to go with. It's been said that the texture on the JAC is exactly replicated from the real version, and of course, the JAC has HK trademarks. One noted problem with them, can be a lack of modern accesories fitting them (grips etc) but probably not enough to deter you if you are still interested in purchasing one after reading the preceeding reviews/input.

What a sucker punch! Motown is right though (About both me being boring and the gun itself, hehe), a lot of the accessories made to fit Marui, CA and AE/ICS guns will not fit on the JAC MP5. The JAC is true to scale unlike the Marui version which is a few mm's smaller.

Just remeber though that with the gas SMG's you are looking at a few disadvantages though. I have known a few with like Mac 11's and MP5K's in gas that while worked great, they lacked winter performance, went through ammo too quickly(depending on player) and the worst was cost. Gas gets pricy depending on your budget if you use this for a primary and spew out ammo left and right. They are fun but I would consider an AEG if these drawbacks seem to shake your confidence with your needs in a gun. Also gas guns are usually much louder which I guess is good or bad depending on what you like. I would not in anyway other than maybe slightly higher ROF say though they are at any advantage over an AEG and even at that, too much ROF can hurt you depending on how much ammo you have.
