I plan on purchasing all of the gear components necessary to set up my first plate carrier in the next week. I figured that, before I go through with it, I should run it by some other people. I'm switching over from running a battle belt, which became very cumbersome after I started putting large amounts of gear on it. I always liked the low-profile of the battle belt, so I decided to go with a smaller plate carrier. I'm also a fairly skinny dude, so a smaller PC will likely fit me better. I chose the Grey Ghost Gear Minimalist Plate Carrier because it's at a very good price point and has exactly what I want. I saw Scooter running it at one of the Realsim games, and I was quite impressed by it. I considered the Banshee, but it's too expensive for me (not going for repro here) and the Minimalist PC seems so much lighter. www.greyghostgear.com/product-p/0007.htmI have six mags that I need to be able to carry at one time, so I plan on having two layers of three. The Grey Ghost Gear Triple Mag Panel seemed sufficient enough for the first layer, and I plan to eventually put some KYWI inserts in there so I can have individual magazine retention. www.greyghostgear.com/product-p/1010.htmNow I could go with two layers of that, but I really like BFG's Ten-Speed Triple. So I was thinking of using that for the outermost layer. Pretty expensive though... For the admin pouch I'm pretty open to suggestions. I don't need a lot, just enough to hold car keys, a map, a pen, and maybe a multitool. I was thinking about the Tactical Taylor Fight Light Admin Pouch. www.tacticaltailor.com/fightlightadminpouchenhanced.aspxFor now, I only plan to run a hydration carrier on the back. In the future I might get some grenade pouches for bangers. For the hydro, Grey Ghost Gear's Modular Hydration Carrier seemed sufficient. www.greyghostgear.com/product-p/3001.htmEverything will be in coyote brown.

I despise cummerbunds. They're too bulky. I like to be able to have the sides of my arms touch cleanly against the sides of my body. I haven't tried it on, but then again I haven't tried any PC on.

Check out the JPC, it's a great compromise between a basic MBSS and a full cummerbund.

The TT admin pouch you linked is pretty big. My gunny has one on his PC, and its frickin huge. Look into getting an Eagle on similar to this one: www.eagleindustries.com/products/detail.aspx?id=244Pantac makes a nice repro of it: www.airsoftgi.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Pantac+Admin&inc_subcat=&categories_id=&x=0&y=0&inc_subcat=1 You might need to work to find them, but these pouches served me well in the past. Nowadays I just use the integrated ones, or just store things in my 15 or so pockets. The ones I linked are about as big as you would need. If you need to carry props, larger items, snacks, ect, get a GP pouch. EDIT: Zephura hit it on the head, the JPC is nice, and you can pick them up for around $200 on FB. You will have to shop around for a GMRpls Coyote one, but they are out there. EDIT 2: "I haven't tried it on, but then again I haven't tried any PC on." You really have to try something before you kick it, especially in this case.

A lot of guys cut up a $3 surplus sleeping mat, or buy replica plates. I use my issued ones because I guarantee nothing we do in airsoft will damage them, but that's just me. And what constitutes a "full setup", because you probably could find a loaded JPC for $250.
EDIT: Also, BLACKHAWK! gear isn't very good anymore. Their classic stuff from the early 90s and 2000s were top notch LEO gear, but most of their modern stuff is comparable to Condor. Ironically, Condor has recently started to up their quality as well. Still replica, but it holds up better than it did a few years back.

Save your 40-some dollars on that hydration pouch and pick up a Source ILPS instead. Cheaper, and fits inside your plate pocket eliminating a hydro pouch entirely. (Then spend the difference on whatever else you want)

You could easily get a JPC for less than 100, it's just not going to be Crye.

He said no repro, so I assume that means no Flyye or Pantac etc.
I don't have too much to add to this other than that I had a Condor MBSS once, and it was the worst thing I've ever worn.

Replica SAPI plates are fairly cheap, there usually not more than 15 dollars. That's what I would do.

Not a bad start, Stinger. My advice would be to get what you think will work and experiment with it. If it doesn't work, there are other alternatives. cqbr does make a valid point with the Source ILPS, though. Leaves more room on the back for whatever you may need on a minimalist plate carrier. In regards to the MBSS Abbot and Snarf mentioned, I've owned a Pantac replica in the past and have recently acquired a real Allied Industries MBSS. Both are fine with me. But, I understand you don't want repro gear and the Allied Industries one goes for about $200+ on ebay, anyways.

Save your 40-some dollars on that hydration pouch and pick up a Source ILPS instead. Cheaper, and fits inside your plate pocket eliminating a hydro pouch entirely. (Then spend the difference on whatever else you want) I really like this idea, as the ILPS seems like a great system. The only problem is that I'm having trouble finding it online. As I'm going to be drinking out of it, I don't want to buy a used one. I also have no idea what I would put on the back in place of it. Some sort of pack would be nice, but I don't want anything too large. The idea is to keep my profile slim. I had figured that the hydro carrier and a couple Kydex grenade holsters (to get later on) would look pretty good and function as I wanted. So what should I be looking at in terms of an ILPS and pack? A lot of guys cut up a $3 surplus sleeping mat, or buy replica plates. I use my issued ones because I guarantee nothing we do in airsoft will damage them, but that's just me. I'm probably going to end up cutting some foam that won't degrade when wet or under friction. Maybe rubber could work too...I'll have to play around once I get it. And what constitutes a "full setup", because you probably could find a loaded JPC for $250. When I said "full setup," I meant everything I would need to buy to set the carrier up to hold all of my stuff. That means all pouches, hydration bladders, etc. A fully loaded Crye JPC in Coyote Brown for $250 seems like a rare sighting. So would you recommend I don't get it? The only piece of BLACKHAWK! gear that I have owned is one of their CQB Rigger's Belts, which I really like. You could easily get a JPC for less than 100, it's just not going to be Crye. As I already mentioned, I'm only going for original production items here. A JPC would be nice, but I honestly think that Crye is the only company that does it right. So for that reason I'm eschewing it right now.

Buying a hydro pouch just for the sake of filling up space isn't something I personally deem a valid reason for purchasing, but to each their own. Just run your back slick and add items as you see fit.
ILPS can be had on Optactical for 35-ish I believe.

I second what CQBR has said about the ILPS. For the last few years I've run one in my EPC, my APC and now my AVS. Much nicer than having to pack a standalone hydro carrier onto the back of your PC, especially if you'd rather run slick or put something else on the rear plate bag like bangers or an HPA tank.
I think the GGG PC will suit you fine, although you might want to think a bit about a cummerbund. If you buy a PC with a cummerbund you can choose to run it slick and still have room to add some extra pouches if you need them. If you buy a PC with no cummerbund then you won't have the ability to expand.
Personally, I like being able to have my radio on one side where I can reach it and then a GP or SAW pouch on the other for random stuff (extra ammo, batteries, food for longer events, etc).
