Can someone point me to a reliable guide for installing a r-hop? Every guide I've seen said to do things vastly differently and i don't want to mess it up.

There are a lot of different guides because there really isn't one way to do it right. I've done several installs, and have tried various methods and always end up in the same place. The biggest thing is to test and tune if you've got the space to do it.

Well than I have one major question, some guides say to sand the inside, place it in your barrel and secure it with the bucking, test and pull out if hop is to high, sand inside and repeat. However others say glue it in, and than sand until hop is flat against outside of barrel, and that sanding the inside is bad, will either of these work or is one wrong? Sorry for all the questions r hops are new to me.

I have actually done it both ways. Sanding the inside seems to reduce some overhop issues, but you have to be very careful to retain the shape. Sanding the outside is a good method because you are not running into the potential problem of changing the interior shape where it will make an uneven bb contact.

Okay, thank you. Would using a round file of the same diameter wrapped in sand paper work well?

That would work. I have a few wood dowels with sandpaper on them. A file would work though.
