For whatever reason my VFC 416 (old gen with vfc trades) has sporadic feeding issues. I've found that this can vary depending on the brand of bb I'm running through it but the issue has popped up from time to time with various brands. At the moment I'm running pts pmags with aftermarket followers designed by a guy on ASM and G&G .25s which seem to feed perfectly. Right now it also has a ZCI hop up unit but I have a couple others sitting around that I have been experimenting with. Currently with this combo it feeds perfectly but there is still some up and down slop in the mag that I believe may be causing it to be picky with other combos of mags, BBs and hop ups.
What I would like to do is eliminate this up and down travel with a different mag catch. It currently has an element steel catch but I'm looking for one that is oversized height wise that will cause the mag to sit a milimeter or so higher. I'm willing to file out the mag catch cutout on the receiver to make it fit if necessary. Anyone have any suggestions that might work? Also does anyone know if a real steel AR mag catch would work? This probably isn't a very common question but if anyone has any input I'd appreciate some ideas.
