I too suffer from lense destruction. T6e9a was able to fix it to an extent however it wasn't easy and doesn't work as well as it did.

I tried cutting a lens shape from some cheap shooting glasses, then sliding it through the top, where I cut a slot for it. I also heated it up some to possibly give it shape or flatten it. It was quite some time ago, but what I did doesn't really work. It fit the area, and would be less likely to break, but the material didnt work for the correct reflective properties and such.

Plaskolite OPTIX sheets are what I've used after my XPS replica got shot out. They sell OPTIX sheets in different thicknesses at Lowe's now too. Can't remember the size I used but you'll figure it out. It's a weather and impact resistant material, basically a tougher version of Lexan. And from first hand experience has held up quite nicely. It has begun to get a slight hazy, but I replaced it at least 3 years ago now.
