So, I have been doing some upgrading to a few of my guns and now I have ran into a hop up problem. On two of my guns (one shoots 400fps and another around 450fps) the BB's will go out about 100-120ft and then just drop (caused by too much spin). Now I am not a newbie to how airsoft guns work but this problem isn't just because the hop up isn't engaged enough, but rather that the hop up doesn't give off enough back spin to counter the BB rolling inside the barrel. I do not have any different barrels lying around to test (other than a crappy (JBU) 6.01 witch gave me the same results just less range and more drastic drops) and the same for the bucking. This spin problem still happens even when I change the bucking from a stock bucking to a maple leaf bucking and even my Prometheus hard (red) bucking. I have also noticed that this problem is only with my longer barrel gun like my M14 and SR-25.
*Note: I only started noticing this problem in my M14 when I changed the Spring (from 350fps to 400fps).
Parts I have been using:
stock barrel stock hop up unit one of the three buckings listed above H-nub in the SR-25 Stock Nub in the M14
I could really use some input on this problem!

Check your nossle. If there is no issue with it, use heavier BBS. That's all I can see that would be an issue, other than some friction somewhere in the hop-up.

Yeah i would go with the above as well, youre getting bad airseal causing most of the effort of the GB to spill out and not push out the bbs. if that still doesnt work, your bucking might be causing a lot of extra friction, could have swelled, been installed wrong etc.

For the sake of helping out someone else that might have this issue in the future, do you care to elaborate on what the root cause was, and how you fixed it?

For the sake of helping out someone else that might have this issue in the future, do you care to elaborate on what the root cause was, and how you fixed it? Ya sure thing, For the SR-25 I had a major air seal problem with the air nozzle. I used the right amount of Teflon tape and then Teflon grease to let it move more freely. I also replaced the hop up bucking. I believe that the hop-up was to hard and it wasn't "gripping" the BB enough to allow for the amount of back spin it needed. As for the M14, I just needed heavier bb's. I only needed to change the weight from .25 to .28 to make a substantial difference in range. -monk
