Hey, hi everyone. After selling all of my equipment and subsequently quitting in 2010 I felt the desire to return to the airsoft world. I joined the MiA forum not too long ago and began doing as much reading as I could (given my busy schedule) and started picking up a few things here are there with the help of a few others. I've been out of the loop for some time and college has essentially washed most of my airsoft knowledge from my brain, and I figured that it wouldn't hurt to ask a few questions so I could get back on my feet the right way.
1. I'm considering buying the Lonex M4. Is it worth it? Is there anything I should know about them? Are they easily upgradeable?
2. The load bearing equipment that I've ordered is OD Green - what camos are used frequently these days in conjunction with said color? Should I invest in tan equipment as well?
3. Given that I don't purchase the Lonex M4 what AEG should I shoot for to get myself back in order? Mind you I have a job so given some time I can put cash as if for the higher quality stuff (barring Systema PTW).
4. Anything else I should know in this day and age?
Thank you for your time and I hope to see you all in the field some day soon. Your help is much appreciated.

1) Buy a G&P or G&G M4 and put lonex upgrades in it if you're handy, and save money.
2) Probably would want to do green on green with that, I can only see Vietnam loadouts in your future with a green load bearing vest. Most event hosts don't care about what color your kit is though, so long as the base camouflage is whatever conforms with the operation/event.
3) See answer to #1.
4) Look into flat hop/R hop modifications and see about dropping that into your guns. Everyone is trying to be a SEAL now, so if you think of a loadout that is different from that and works it's usually appreciated on field. That's about it.
Come out to the RAGE REC game on the 21st of June and try out your new toys, just a little under a month from now.

EDIT: sniped by mosin If you feel comfortable with the price look at G&Ps, and the higher end KWA's. The gear color you pick is totally up to you MOST events don't require camo and gear to match. That being said I'd get both a tan set of cammies and green set just because. Upgrades gave certainly changed. If you do get a G&P the first thing you should do is swap out the stock piston, for a nylon fiver metal toothed piston, and the piston head, probably the mushroom head type. Slap a maple leaf bucking with hard nub, and a tight bore barrel and you're good to go. G&P's come wired to deans so be weary of that. Lipos are all the rage today, you won't regret using them.

I have virtually no interest in a SEAL loadout so I'll probably do a little more research before I start compiling gear any further. I look forward to coming! I will keep this in mind, thank you. Any other models I should keep an eye on besides M4s/M16s? They seem incredibly common now and I'd just like to maybe break it up a bit. Cyma makes a solid AK as well as Dboys. They'll last you forever. In the realm of M14's cyma also has a pretty solid model, G&G makes an M14 but it is very pricey. If german weapons tickle your peach go for a G36. Classic army is still a good brand for these as well as Echo1 and ares with their H&K trademarked series if you can find one for a decent price.
On another note, I'd merge your posts using the edit feature. There is a rule stating against double posting, it clutters a thread surprisingly quickly.

M16'S aren't as popular as M4s. I like them as you really don't see them that often and you can do some cool stuff with them to make them stand out.

Cyma is compatable with almost all v3 upgrade parts. The only exception I think is the hop up? But other than that all after market barrels, pistons, etc.

I'm not 100% but I think the cyma plastic hop up is different than a metal unit. It has something to do with the difference between two screws holding the upper and lower together and four screws, they do make aftermarket units though.

I'll have to make sure of that before I make a purchase. I'm incredibly paranoid when it comes to things like this so it may take a week of constant research before I am assuaged.
