I noticed that evike is releasing a box of awesomeness for $85 dollars.
www.evike.com/products/45787/
I don't own any airsoft gear at all, so i'm wondering if a mystery box would be a good way to start out. I'm kinda skeptical about ordering something and not knowing exactly what i'm going to get, but $85 dollars sounds like a hell of a deal for some of the stuff that could be in the box. would it be a good idea to try to snag a box?
ps: also, what is the worst possible thing I can get in this box?

Good Lord, no!
Why would you spend money not knowing what you're going to get?
Take some time to figure out what your airsoft budget is going to be and then do some research on what type of rifle to purchase.
Don't just go around throwing your money away!

Which guns on the list are the ones that make the box not worth the risk? Currently I'm planning on buying a G&G combat machine, but am considering getting the box if and only If even the worst gun i could get is worth it.

Just stop and think about it for a minute.
A retailer's job is to make money. In the case of these mystery boxes, they might lose money on one or two of them, but the vast majority of the time they are profiting. This means that you are paying them $80 and they must be earning enough at the very least to break even. The reality is that while you may pay $80, the value of average box is probably significantly less than that.

The reality is that while you may pay $80, the value of average box is probably significantly less than that. I fully realize that a retailers job is to make money. However, doing the math, there are 270 boxes, and adding up the number of winners for each gun nets a total of 270. According to what I have read, you can only get one gun per box (correct me if i'm wrong) Thus, if my math is correct, every person who buys a box is guaranteed one of those guns. So, assuming I am right about this, and I am guaranteed one of the guns on that list. The thing that is stopping me from buying the box right now is that I am unsure of the quality of some of the guns. It would really help me out If you could point out specifically which guns on the list are crap so I can avoid purchasing them in the future.

Any gun that you don't want or would never buy is in the "crap" category. I already have too many M4s and don't like the SMG/M1 platforms, so it looks like about 228 out of 270 are in my "crap" category. So I'd have a greater than 80% chance of getting crap I don't want if I bought this BOA.

You can always make a gun perform up to your personal standards with the right combination of time, patience, and money. With that said, your best off just buying what you want (given it being in your budget).

Most of those guns are crap, I say this because the EliteForce M4's utilize a micro (or trigger) switch which IMO is garbage as they always have given me problems (some have had good luck with them, I haven't seen anyone local that has).
The only one that would be worth it is a G&G Combat Machine, any of the support gunner style roled guns, KWA Kriss, or the G&P M4 (if you can get past that paintjob). So maybe 8 out of 20 guns are worth it (even with that your odds are lower then 40% since they are giving away less of those 8 then the other 12). Past that, I'd say pass on the rest because they probably aren't selling and Evike's losing money holding onto them at the moment.
Just buy a G&G Combat Machine. You could get lucky, but it's doubtful. I know two buddies that have bought these 2-3 times a piece and both got jipped everytime.

Looking at eBay, the guns you say are crap aren't really selling for much if at all, so reselling the guns I wouldn't want isn't an option. I'll just stick to my previous plan of getting a combat machine. Thanks for the input guys.
