I kid you not. My JG AK is starting forming rust on some of the metal parts on the gun after Wounded Wing. How can I stop this? Take some heavy grit sand paper and sand off the rust?

If its just surface rust, pick up some real steel CLP (cleaner, lubricant, protector) with rust inhibitor. If its bad wet sanding and refinish may be the answer.

Managed rust on an AK would be tits in my opinion. I like mine used and abused.

My brother's four yr old JG AK also has formed rust over the years. Even after wiping it down right after use. Best JG gun we've ever owned actually. Externals are falling apart but the gearbox is still going strong and I swear it shoots just as great as some of my fully upgraded guns.
Wounded Wing left three of my guns soaked. The first thing I did as soon as I got home was take them all down short of pulling out the gearboxes and dried them the best I could, then left them out to dry for a few days.

My G&P m4 likes to rust on the forward assist and some of the bolts. I usually just clean it off with a little petroleum jelly and its good to go.

I'll agree with the above posts too, some wear looks cool.

I've had this happen on my maruzens folding stock. Happened after that one day where it just rained non stop at ATS. Didn't even use it but having it in the trunk next to some gear that was wet led to some of the steel rusting alittle. Was also able to simply clean it off.

I'll agree on keeping it, my M4 has picked up a bit of rust around the dust cover, looks great.

Rust on a stock is not the best place for it. It wasn't a Ak that I was looking for the battle hardened look or a old school 1911.
