Yeah I saw Pagan and Gimp also mention this on FB this morning now that Northern Light is moving to Indianapolis in 2014. The good news is Lightning Strike is happening in OH. And there's also Red Storm in PA. There's been no more news on Blacksheep hosting an event up at Camp Grayling which is disappointing.

Industrial AO for Northern Lights has me intrigued. While it does suck that there won't be any LC events in Michigan, it's nice to see that there are events relatively close by.

Exactly what I was thinking. At least there's events in two bordering states next year. Actually Indianapolis isn't too far either.

I'd still love to find a way to secure the steel mill for our own use even if its just a small portion of it.

I just spoke with Greg, they're still scouting Michigan AOs, just nothing worked out for this year.

That's a sigh if relief, I would love to not have to travel too far for a sweet event. Hopefully everything pans out.

I'd still love to find a way to secure the steel mill for our own use even if its just a small portion of it. Unfortunately that place just keeps getting more and more dangerous as they remove more stuff. I would be hesitant to host there without a very good insurance plan. Eventually the Steel Mill will take a life if people start getting too comfortable with it.

It's great for having a shit load of people, but in most places you can just watch the enemy move from across the field. When you're in the mill it's stupid dangerous due to the lack of light. Besides that even inside the mill there's just these huge open areas. Now of course there are spots which make for great firefights, but in my opinion the majority of that field isn't really good for the short range of airsoft. Second, because it's so big you end up walking 3/4 mile or more back a forth between the spawn and the firefight. Don't get me wrong I've had fun there and it definitely adds a new aspect with the danger, but it's not exactly a perfect AO like I imagine Irene to be.

Don't get me wrong, I've been very happy to have had two opportunities to play at the steel mill. And I'm very grateful that John Lu has hosted an LC OP here in our state the last couple years. But coming off the high of our solid victory after this year's event I almost feel like I've experienced what there is to experience playing at this field and actually said that if there was to be another event there, it would be a tough call if I would attend a 3rd time because really the only reason why I would attend again is to get the chance to play with everyone from the community. But I'm not so sure I would want to play at the AO again for the reasons that X mentioned. And I don't want to sound like I'm whining, but when you break it down the walk to the starting point on the North end of the structure is like a mile walk from the staging area/camping area and it's just a really dangerous AO. Also trying to move between the open areas and cover becomes very hard especially when there's any enemy heavy vehicles rolling around. Also playing in the middle of summer also doesn't help. I'd much prefer to play in the spring if I could.

Jeez Gunny could you find something else to whine about? I actually measured it in google maps just now and it's actually only a 1/2 mile from one end to another. I could have sworn it was like 1.5. Big fish story I guess. At least we can all say it feels like 10 miles in that heat.
