I think too many people read too much into it. Whats the difference in replicating a loadout? That is disrespectful too then, cause that said person has no right to wear a Ranger loadout cause they arent a Ranger, and so on.. It is quite different. Using your example of the Rangers, you have to earn the right to wear the Ranger tab. The tabs aren't given to people, there is meaning behind wearing one. As for their gear, it is given, not earned. There is no significance in wearing it. If a non Ranger decided to wear the same shit Rangers wear there would not be an issue (Assuming their command is okay with the use of non standard items). If that person decided to wear a Ranger tab and was not actually a Ranger, they would be in deep shit. Wearing a Ranger tab says to outsiders that you are a Ranger, using the same gear has no symbolic meaning. I am not a fan of folks wearing berets, badges, and titles/tabs (PJ, Ranger, etc) that were unearned but I am also understanding to Milsim players that are wishing to get a "certain look" or impression. In my opinion there is no kit that needs the use of those types of insignias to fit the role. EOD/PJ patches are not on every real EOD/PJs kit. If someone wants to do one of those kits, they can make one that is just as accurate without those patches and avoiding any claims to unearned titles.
