I have been looking into a radio system, for my team, to replace the two way radios we have now. I am very inerested in the throat mics, so I ask: Anyone have expiriences or recommendations?

I have tried one of the cheaper throat mics it was maybe $50. I don't remember the brand, but it was horrible. It doesn't pick up any sounds that are made with your mouth, like 's' for example. I would assume that's a limitation of the design. I'm not sure if there's a throat mic that can. Sent from my XT1080 using proboards

I tried a couple cheaper models without success. Some didn't fit my throat well enough, some did but didn't match impedance with my radio and forced me to shout. Eventually I went with a real tactical model from TCI and that worked great, but cost a heck of a lot of money.

At the very least, you should be prepared to try several bad ones before you find one you can live with.

Hmmm I guess that would be the case with this type. If you get something cheap, it wont pick up anything. Or get an expencive one and can't find a bloody radio to go with it.

I haven't personally used one, but I have heard plenty of people with cheap ones over the comms. It seems like they pick up more field noise than actual voice, which really sucks. Nothing is worse than getting blasted in the ear with the sound of a gearbox with a faint voice in the background.
Also, anybody who uses VOX with a throat mic needs to be slapped. I can't stand the heavy breathing.
