This is my "late war" macv/sog impression. I've been building this for a long time and it is nearly how I want it. The only pieces I need is another m1956 canteen pouch and 4 m1956 mag pouches to replace the alice mag pouches. All of the web gear is authentic surplus that I have acquired from various gun shows and surplus stores. P.S. The knife is not a correct piece of kit.

Looks like a good start. I would ditch the M56 butt pack as they were not favored by many SF types. Instead I would try and find an canvas ARVN ruck, as those were more commonly used. Here are a couple of pictures of one that I have in my collection of Vietnam gear. A great forun for Vietnam loadouts is www.vietnam-airsoft.com/phpBB3/ Just be careful as some of the guys over there can be real "stitch bitches".

I'm aware of the butt pack issue. It's a personal choice to keep it. It is one of my favorite pieces of 56 kit. Thanks for the compliments guys. I will post pics of just the AK once its done.

Yeah, as far as practicality for an airsoft match the buttpack is better than a full ruck, though for anything longer than a day you'd definitely want the larger pack. Are you sure that's an M56 belt? Looks like the LC-2 to me, at least as far as grommits, but then again the fastener is older. Hard to tell from the angle presented (And because they're empty) but the belt magazine pouches look to be later issue too - either the ALICE type or possibly the 1967 30 rounders - they appear to have the Spanish tabs but again, hard to say. The bandana is a nice touch and of course the flight gloves and jungle boots are essentially a requirement for the kit. No real complaints here, then, other than the stuff being fairly faded already - but not much you can do about that.

Try mooremilitaria.com for some of the rarer Vietnam gear. Coming along good so far. Also, I agree about the butt pack(Actually an M61 butt pack. The M56 pack was very short-lived). It's definitely my favorite piece of the M56 rig. It's just so distinctive it's irresistible. My M56 rig is my primary, and is definitely my favorite I own. If you need any help or advice about yours, just send me a PM.

The M56/M61 butt packs are great and definately set off a Vietnam set up, just letting you know they were not common with the SF type guys. Here is a pic of a couple of my M56 rigs. I mainly do a standard infantry impressions, here is my post 67' 3rd pattern set up.

Beast, those are beautiful. I'll have to post my rig up here sometime. It's about 99% done, just looking for one more canteen cover. Your impression looks great, too. Has that AirCav look more or less. Nice to see other Vietnam fans around here.

Thanks for the advise. Beast everything looks great but shouldn't you run the baonet on the left side if you are right handed?
