Good afternoon everyone. First I'd like to start by introducing myself to the community. My name is Ben Rohde, 20 years old, currently enrolled at Lawrence Technological University studying in my junior year for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Airsoft has recently piqued my interest, though I have always toyed around with stuff in my brothers room before he went into the USCG, thus I am not a total novice to the sport.
That being said, my older brother is an senior member of this community known by the name "Connors". I have seen his gear/equipment and how serious this stuff can get, and it is definitely a lot more interesting now than it was when I was 14 or 15. I never had time back in high school to go out with my brother to an event so I don't exactly know everything that goes on at these functions. I would very much like to get out to a few events where I can really see what kind of role is fit for me on the field.
Now a little about my on tendencies as an (new) airsofter. I personally have a very patient trigger finger, and have always found the role as a long-range marksmen very intriguing (yes, I understand that every noob wants to be a sniper). I won't get too much into that as its a role that takes practice and experience, which I cannot personally say I have a lot of. I just ordered a lower quality rifle (Well MB07 to be exact) to fool around with around my back yard for target practice (we have a large backyard) with an NC Star 3-9x40mm scope. I figured it something cheap that I can get started on and see if I really like the role in the field. Along with that, pistols are my next favorite thing to shoot, and never particularly found interest in being the soldier type, referring to AEG's and sidearms for a load out. I strive to be a leader in things that I do and being a scout on the field is one role where I can assert that responsibility.
All this being said, I would like to thank you all in advance for any advice you have, and I hope to attend some events in the near future where I can get started on this fun, albeit, expensive hobby.
