If only there were aftermarket support... The design is cool (and good) but it's a dumb buy IMO, until there is more aftermarket support, or at least some more news on this.
For now, I am sticking to ICS for quick power change features. With the ICS m4s split gearbox design, it takes about as long to swap the upper gearbox as it does to swap the cylinder in a PTW. Also, AFTERMARKET SUPPORT.

I too am waiting for more aftermarket support. I'll gladly switch over to a planetary gearbox if I don't have to drop the same kind of coin it costs to buy a Systema PTW motor, or a $100 PTW inner barrel for example.
I realize Celcius CTW parts are currently a lot cheaper than Systema parts but still higher than what most Tokyo Marui V2 gearbox parts costs.
Once they are around the same price I will definitely consider switching then, but until then I'll stick with the Marui V2 design.

Because the 20 year old V2 gearbox, with all of it's weaknesses and flaws, is clearly superior? Come on man, you know better than to buy into the ASM PTW hate. The only drawback the planetary gearbox has compared to the TM box is that it's not as ubiquetous so there's little in the way of aftermarket support. If it gets more popular, that gap will narrow. I mean hell, even TM tried to replace their old design what, 4 years ago now? I don't need to buy into anything, because I've shot my fair share of PTWs and CTWs, and upgraded plenty of AEGs. That 20 year old V2 gearbox is still capable of far better performance than a Systema. And it's thanks to the new technology and new parts that are constantly being developed for it. We have Siegetek Gears, which are virtually indestructible compared to the soft, pot-metal TM gears made for <1J springs. To compliment those, we have Lonex and SHS pistons with steel gear racks. There are reinforced gearboxes like the MTHaynes and Pro-Win that easily stand up to 700+ FPS. Virtually everybody uses lithium polymer batteries now, which are a huge improvement over the measly 8.4v NiMh and NiCd batteries of the past. High-torque neo-magnet motors allow for amazing trigger response even with very stiff springs. Concepts like adding sorbothane to the cylinder head have vastly improved reliability as well. Last, but certainly not least, are MOSFETs and all of the features that they come with. All of this is available for the standard gearbox at a price point much lower than PTW upgrades and accessories. ($200 FCC motors, anybody? No thanks, I'll take my $30 JG blue.) The PTW has very little going for it, and judging by the name of their latest model (Final Evolution), I don't think we'll see any new replicas from Systema that resemble the PTW. The clone market and development of better parts for the standard AEG have pretty much killed it off. And don't forget the Polarstar of course. If somebody wants to drop a lot of money for the best performance out of the box, they'll buy a Polarstar. And an air tank, and regulator set up, and mags. And still be under $1k, far below what a PTW + mags, batteries, and cylinders would cost. If somebody wants to pay $1k+ so they can have a functioning bolt catch and real-steel spec receiver, then I guess that's their choice. They'll get better performance than that of a stock gun, but won't hold a candle to a well-tuned and upgraded AEG, let alone a Polarstar.

I'm not one to normally throw money down the toilet. However, I wouldn't mind trying this out. If nothing else it would be nice to compare the quality and performance to my actual ptw. I'm all for welcoming new alternatives but call me skeptical. Than again my ptw is so decked out that I don't even think I could provide a fair comparison…

Soon as I get the spare coin ( tax time) I might just have to get one for CQB type play. Pretty interesting review.

M16A2 carbine and M16A2 standard variants are up for pre-order on Airsoft Global. Nice to see a few older school variants being offered.
The review post on Arnie's got a bit of an update regarding the DTW MOSFET.

Yeah I saw that he said it was some thing you didn't want to play with cause he shorted it out.

I'll wait and see. When KWA first came out everyone said they were PTW performance at a TM price. Fast forward 1 year and the gearbox cracking issue is resolved, Hop ups were improved. I of course bought into the Gen 1 hype and had both my gearbox crack and I went through at least 3 hop ups (broken adjustment stalk). With this being there first crack at this design there may be some kinks that need be worked out.

Agreed, just like a new Iphone, sounds great on the drawing board then you get it and Google maps wont work right.
