It took nearly 2 months, but finally my project is finished. I present to you my KSC G19 with silencer: www.pbase.com/minkster/silenced_g19
I love how the finished product looks, but man it was a pain in the ass getting it this far! The silencer you see in those pictures is the 3rd one that I had to buy, all the same model from Guarder. The first one was missing one whole end (the end with the threading I needed) and all the internals. Returned that one, got a refund, ordered another one with a FLAG group order. After waiting for some time, the order finally gets in, and I drive up to Newman's house to pick my silencer up. Everything looks OK, since this time the silencer is actually complete...the problem comes when I try to screw it onto my barrel. Turns out this one was defective too, since it had 14mm Counterclockwise threading on both ends, instead of one end being clockwise and the other counter (I needed Clockwise for my barrel...). Sooo, I contacted Guarder themselves and explained my problem, and they offered to replace it for me if I shipped the defective silencer to them. That's nice, except that they're overseas and I've already wasted money on buying the damn thing twice . I finally proposed the idea to them of letting me send the silencer to one of their US distributors, who could then send me a replacement. They agreed and put me in touch with the guys at AirsoftExtreme, who took pity on me and told me to send my silencer to them to be replaced. Finally, yesterday a package from AE shows up at my door, and I quickly rip into it. Everything looks OK, so I try threading it onto my Glock barrel.... Holy crap it worked!
My excitement was short lived though, since the silencer threads are set back ever so slightly, just enough to catch the silencer body on the frame of the Glock when it cycles . Being the smart guy I am though, I realized if I stuck an O-ring at the base of the threads it would set the silencer off enough that it wouldn't catch the frame. So, one $.68 O-ring later, my silencer is working great, and the whole evil ordeal is over. Sorry for going off on such a rant, but I really needed to vent after all this! ;D
As always, comments are welcomed.
