I decided to put the M2HB on the back burner for a bit and start on another dream project, an MG42. I started with a real steel "Parts Kit" about a week ago, and have been making some pretty fast progress. As you can see, the flash hider and "recoil booster" bushing has been attached and tack welded. I had to machine that part from raw steel as it was torch cut off. The thread for the flash hider is 40mm X 1.5, try finding a die for THAT in the hardware store. I hope to have this finished by December for a "Battle of Stalingrad" game we have every year.

Real steel? Wait. They sell the stuff to make a real, bullet shooting MG-42? This is going to be great

Put all your Airsoft projects on the back burner and help me make my Mini Monster Truck build! - Seriously though...this may as well be your day job designing custom shit like this for Airsoft companies to be mass produced.

This is going to be great Yes, many of the parts from this project did come from a real MG-42 (A Yugoslavian M53 actually) that was dismantled and cut with a torch. I am putting it back together, without a lot of the parts you need to fire real bullets and putting airsoft parts in their place. Just got some steel to build the rest of the receiver. More pics (hopefully) soon.

More progress..... Yardstick underneath to illustrate size. Yes, it is heavy. Top Cover and feed tray sit nice after a bit of initial fitting. Sadly, my electric die grinder broke (only the switch) working on this.

What are you going to use for the ammo? I hope its the round ones that clip on the side.

Depending on the price of the real steal kit this this might have been a better option. But I love all the work you do so I'm sure this one will be a major winner.

Can't wait to see this as a finished product! I get a nostalgic rush every time I see German WWII weaponry.
