Hey guys, So lately I've been toying around with the idea of starting to put together a German kit to go along with my recent habits of buying German weapons. I don't know much about German gear so some help would be appreciated.

What years are you thinking? Current? 80's?
Modern gear would be: M826 Helmet - slightly modified, but similar to the PASGT. Uniform would of course be Flecktarn combat dress, or parka as needed. Tactical rig currently is the IDZ vest, similar to MOLLE with thinner straps (and apparently in both horizontal and vertical arrangements), available in both armor-carrying and non-carrying versions... often around $400-500. The non-armor version would likely be worn over the Flecktarn flak vest, introduced in early-mid 90's and similar again to the PASGT vest. Often these vests are available for <$100. Again, the flak vest could be worn with the older flecktarn webbing sets, complete kits available for <$100 but they usually have G3 magazine pouches - the G36 pouches are a little harder to find.

Yeah I was thinking something current. Do any German forces use the ump?

I believe GSG9 uses the ump.

I believe GSG9 uses the ump. From what I've read they stick more with the MP5 and MP7 series of sub-machine guns. Most German forces use the G36 series, however some other units (including the GSG-9) have started using the H&K 416 and 417 rifles.

Here are some reference pics I've got. They're all KSK (Germany's version of something between Delta Force and Army Rangers) operatives, but I'll get you some pics of other groups. (You can see two wearing MICH 2001s) Here's what their flak jacket looks like: And here's a link to a post on another forum concerning it: www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=957333&page=9(It's towards the bottom) Weapons wise, almost all branches use some version of the G36K, so it's not that hard of a choice. I hope this helps.

Tropentarn is cool, but it's much harder to find gear for.

Your third picture, the main guy in focus looks to be wearing a PACA and coyote chest rig. I'm sure khaki and CB vests would look fine on it, but actual Tropentarn armor and gear would be difficult, and probably pricey.

AHH, D 4.0 is gonna be my next impression idea. Also, tropentarn and even rarer Wüsterntarn camo is extremely expenseive, the latter rarely even made it out of KSK hands. the vest he is wearing is a Mk II Khaki chestrig by Tasmanian Tiger (also TT, not to be confused with Tactical Tailor, who also supplies lots of Germans with gear. google Lindnerhof-taktik to see.) www.asmc.de/en/Gear/Military/Load-bearing-equipment/Chest-Riggs/Chest-Rigg-TT-MK-II-khaki-p.htmlAlso, he's wearing that rig over a Mehler Schutzweste SK in either tan, or he just straight Krylon'd one (looks like the latter).
