So, I've got my new G18c here, and have revelled in it's 1200 RPM capabilities, and I just recieved two more standard 26 round mags with 2 hi-caps on the way. So, my question is simple: How many do I need? If you had a G18C (Or G26c), how many would you carry? I'll be getting a Guarder SOG vest, so I'll have the possibility of carrying about 6 standard mags and 6 hi-caps with two of the pistol pouches and one SMG pouch. (My drop leg has a spare mag pouch, which with the one in the gun makes for 2). But is 12 mags really necassary except for gloating rights?

It really depends on the situation, though if you are using it in a CQB enviroment, 2 or 3 extra magazines, plus the one already in the gun would be sufficient. For a woodland ordeal, 3 or 4 extra, plus what is in the gun.
It is a secondary weapon, and therefore, the ammo allotment should be secondary to that of what you carry for your primary. I think that the rule is carry 1/4 ammo of your primary for you secondary.
Granted it's full auto, but how often will you use the full-auto capability, or use your sidearm. It's an issue of your personal preference, ammo usage habits, and pistol usage habits.

Very true, good points, Motown. I would like to use it as a primary in CQB situations when the weather warms up more. I'm thinking that, since it'd be my only weapon, I may be using it in the full auto mode more.
You are right, it really depends on the situation, but leaves me to the opinion that I would rather want to have more mags than necassary than not have enough.

well, i've got 3 mags for the 26C, and i've never run low on ammo in a game. last saturday, i used my pistol for 2 games, and only used about a mag and a half each time...i plan on getting 4 more magazines for the thing, though (4 more Glock 19 mags with extender for the 26) just to fill out 2 x 3 mag thigh rigs, plus one in the weapon. another thing... practice with the thing. count your shots. then do a tactical reload as fast as you can, drawing from your thigh rig/vest. i've gotten myself to under 5 seconds from the time i yank the mag, pull the new one, put the old in the rig, slap the new one in, and am ready to rock and roll. if i'm dropping magazines, i can get it done in under 3. but securing the velcro extends the time a bit.

when i bought the 18c i bought one extra hicap mag and i thought that would be sufficient, AS my primary weapon. Airsoft is one shot kill right?... and most of it is very tactical, not much uh Rambo mode.. Well i guess it also depends on how long your games actually will be... if their like hours and hours heh. But ours are not usually that long. Technically when we start playing well have around 10 people on our "team" and well probably play against each otehr. hrm that just be one mag, the rifle, and 10 bbs, and a half full mag of gas ^^
and were not into airsoft as much as some of you here are, a few of us have decent guns, but noone actually has helmets/vests/holsters/blahblah.

Airsoft is one bag one kill, Bong. Seriously, though, people use a couple hundred to a couple thousand rounds per day in my own group, with 6-12 people playing. That's around....what...200-400 bbs shooting at ONE person per day (if it was 4 vs 4, you'd shoot at 4 guys = 1600 rounds). Airsoft is more rambolike than people think. *shrugs*

Yeah, i can attest to the rambo part. I dunno if u remember newman, but at OP: BHD last year you went dashing towards Ed ,that was behind the tree, with your M4 held out in 1 hand firing away, until you go up to him and ran outta ammo . Man that was funny as crap to watch!

EDIT-Ed wasn't at that game. That was a guy from Indiana. My gun was upgraded before that event and my ROF was so bad with 8.4 minis that I didn't think I could use up an entire lowcap shooting at him, and then I used up 3 and just decided to run at him. We both stalemated and nothing happened until I ran away to reload my magazines...I have nothing else to say.
All I know is that I didn't care much about tactics when I played in Viking's Tactical Funland and basically...had fun. ;D My kill to death ratio was OK but I generally just had fun screaming weird insults at people and yelling "Wackadoodle" before charging headfirst into an ambush...just for the heck of it.
Things have changed in regards to playing style, but hey, I'm not one to talk, since I haven't been able to actually play with a working gun for many months.

Bah, I know deep down you're still the crazy Mooseboy we all know and love Newman. ;D
Seriously though bong, if airsoft BBs worked like real bullets, then yeah we'd use a lot less rounds. Things like wind and twigs/leaves tend to royally screw with airsoft BBs though, so we need a "few" more rounds to get the job done. As long as you're not using one hicap per kill, I don't care.
