A few months ago I bought a set of two Motorola MR350R radios. They can transmit perfectly fine to other radios, but they are unable to receive transmissions from other radios. They work perfectly fine eachother. The issue comes up when trying to work with other radios. Does anyone know what is up with this? Unfortunately if they are faulty I cannot return them since one of them has gone missing. Does anyone here know what might be up with them?

Does the screen have a "1" in the top right corner? If so, then you are on subchannel 1. You must be on subchannel 0 (AKA flat) to receive transmissions. This happened to me also.
To change the subchannel, hit "menu" twice, then hit the "-" button once so the number in the top right corner is "0". After that, just hit the PTT button and you should be good to go.

If you can transmit to other radios, but can't receive from them, and you can transmit between your two radios, i think i know what's wrong. The other radios you are transmitting to do not have a privacy code set. Your radios have a privacy code set however.
Let me explain in more detail. These radios have privacy codes that can be set to some number, or set to 0. If they are not 0, you can only hear transmissions from a radio with the same channel and privacy code set. This is where it gets interesting. Anyone that has the privacy code shut off (set to 0) can hear you. They can hear anything transmitted from someone that has privacy shut off, and anything from people that have a privacy code set. This is all assuming, of course, that the radios are set to the same channel.
Make sure you set the privacy code to 0 and you will be all set.

Yep, there was a privacy code set. I can't test it now but chances are that was the issue. Thanks!

While your at it, I'd like to help you out a little further. You and everyone else that you transmit to. Go through your menus and find the setting that lets you turn off your call button, and shut it off. Even if you don't plan on using it, you might accident push it while in a fire fight. This REALLY pisses everyone off. Especially those of us that have headsets! Good luck.

I certainly plan on doing that. I get annoyed just from hearing the noise of it from other peoples radio's

Or you can just take a knife and cut it out. That would be highly satisfying and useful.
