Recently I've been looking at getting the VFC M416 because I like the way it looks. However I noticed a significant problem with the gun that scares me from buying it. Above the magwell where the upper and lower receivers meet, there is a significant gap between them. If anyone knows some easy fixes or even good alternative companies that make a M416 would be great. Link to the gun is here. Look closely in the pictures and you'll see the gaps I'm talking about. www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_380&products_id=7083

That's just the way they're manufactured, there's no simple fix or anything you can really do.
That and it appears that you're making a mountain out of a mole hill with this. The ''issue'' is practically non-existent on the gun once you handle it in person.

Alright, I had some friends of mine making it sound really bad which had me more worried. I'm no airsoft expert so I listened.

And it's an HK416, not M416. We're not playing Battlefield.

Dude, people know what I meant. It's not a serious difference. M416/HK416. I know this isn't battlefield and that's not where i got M416 from.

Sabre,
Chill out man. We're kind of sticklers around here for terminology (among many things). Crapshoot didn't mean to be insulting, he was just trying to inform you of the gun's actual name in his dickish way.
Crapshoot,
Be less dickish.

I've held about three VFC HK416s and the gap isn't an issue. It makes no difference in it's performance in any way.

I've had mine since December and this is the first time I've noticed it. It's will only bother you if you're a stickler about those kinda things, but it won't have any effect on use.

Didn't Umarex show their new HK416 and HK417 with the proper HK stocks at SHOT 2012 this year? I wonder if they'll make the HK stocks available for aftermarket purchase for all those who have already purchased HK416s?
Also, DEVGRU had Geissele design them a new rail, which I'd like to see an available for airsoft.
So, the airsoft versions are going to be off from what most the real steals will be in appearance.
