Hey guys I'm trying to get into airsoft and I'm just have a couple of magazine questions.
1. I have an ak with a 600 round high-cap and I have been told I need some more mags if I want to get into airsoft so should I get some more hi-caps or should I go with the 150rd mid-caps?
2. How many mid-caps/high-caps schould I get?
Originally I would go with the high-caps but as I have learned from other posts, that would be a typical noob mistake so please help. Thanks

Get mids. I'd start with around 5 or so, but you can never have too many mags.

Mid-caps are most common and liked by most everyone. The benefit is that you don't ever have to wind them during a game. Mag changes actually take less time (for me anyway) and obviously is more realistic and to me..a lot more fun. You can always get low-caps as well for a lot of realism but you will come up short on ammo compared to most everyone else. The mid-caps are the best balance...at 75-130rds a piece, if you carry 6-10 of those you've got a lot of ammo to last long games but no winding and still get realistic mag changes. They're the best compromise and are good on price most of the time as well.

Mids don't make that annoying ass rattle like hi caps, that alone is enough reason to use them.
Make sure you research your mid cap mags before you buy them. Mid caps are generally more reliable than hi caps due to their simple design, but there are jam-o-matic mids out there. The most common problem with crappy mids is two bb's jamming in the feed tube which blocks up the mag. Hitting them against a hard surface will usually clear the jam but it will generally happen again and quite often.
Also, there are two forms of AK's. There are the TM style bodies which have 4 screws on the bottom near the front of the magwell, and VFC/pinned style bodies which use pins to assemble. VFC/pinned style "steel" body AK's are often fairly picky about mags. Do you know which kind of AK you have? It may make a difference in what mags you should get.
