I went to a field today and they have a Echo1 M4 with a full IRS with pop up sights for $205 out the door. It comes with a battery and Hi-cap mag and he is willing to change the spring for me so I can use it for in doors at no extra cost. Is it a good deal? and what are your thoughts on Echo1 as a company.
Thanks for the feedback.

Your best bet in my opinion will always be the commerce section here or just getting a G&G combat machine.

Like I recommended before: www.airsoftgi.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=CQR&sort=2a&PLsort=5aOr: www.airsoftgi.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=combat+machine&x=0&y=0As for Echo 1, they are a re-brander, meaning that they do not make their own products. The actual manufacturer of their cheaper M4's is JG, which is pretty good quality. The problem with JG though, and thus Echo 1, is that their AEG's tend to come with over powered springs (this point is null because you said you could get it swapped), NEED to be reshimmed (I learned that the hard way), and also be regreased. If you are just starting out and don't have much technical experience, that might be difficult for you. Also, KWA and G&G have much better quality control. They also come with one month warranties.

JG isn't good quality, neither is Echo 1. Spring ratings may be higher but after use they settle pretty damn low.
Re-shimming should be done in ANY gone regardless of brand if you want to achieve the most reliability. Same goes for adjusting motor height.
KWA is crap and so are most G&G's.
No one company is better than another. Period. That has been my experience over the years. I had the most success and zero issues with the guns I tuned and built on my own.

I had the most success and zero issues with the guns I tuned and built on my own. +1 What makes a gun "good" for me is the external finish and on-spec internals. Proprietary parts are almost always a pain in the ass and just make things harder when you go to work on the gun. So I really only consider 2 options for M4-based AEGs anymore, depending on budget: -JG (low-budget) -G&P (higher-budget)

Ike's approach works very well for him and other experience members because he's got the experience and skill to tune a gearbox well. As new player, you probably shouldn't be going at this expecting to get into the gearbox. Stick with G&G, or even better, Tokyo Marui, and never worry about having to crack it open. You don't want to start with a gun that you need to open up before you even take it onto the field.

But for the most part the G&G Combat Machines are popular for that reason. They are dependable, look nice and are ready to go out of the box.
