So I have this UTG mk96 that I purchased a while back. So far it really has just sat and looked pretty and I am already aware that UTGs aren't necessarily all that great, but the price was pretty solid. More importantly....
I need some recommendations for upgrades as I know nothing about spring bolt action replicas.

The UTG MK96 is MOSTLY compatible with all of the Maruzen upgrades, minus the full tune kits that include the cocked indicator mech. I can't think of any others off the top of my head that are not compatible.
Also, just for reference the bb is not loaded into the hop up chamber until you push the bolt back forward.

UTG doesn't have many upgrades that are compatible with other brands. The only upgrade that I know that will work would be www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=362_364&products_id=6318 and www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=362_364&products_id=2690 inner barrels dont matter. Spring bolt actions are like the cheap springer rifles you buy from Wal-mart , but better built of course. How they work is quite simple, when you pull the bolt back it pulls the piston, spring and cylinder back to load a BB into the hop-up. when pushing the bolt forward will put the cylinder back to where it started and leaving the compressed spring and piston held in place by a trigger sear ( I believe). when you pull the trigger the sear drops and the spring decompresses....etc. A video that would help www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY6Do_If_kM Just delete your post bro. The UTG mk96 is very much compatible with aftermarket parts. It is compatible with the PSS96 parts meant for the original maruzen l96, with the exception of one or two external bits and what kender referenced. Speaking from personal experience. Here are some links to help the OP: www.airsoftsniperforum.com/showthread.php?t=1159www.airsoftsniperforum.com/showthread.php?t=1276www.airsoftsniperforum.com/showthread.php?t=684^Post is missing tons of info, got lost in transition to new forum. Working on fixing it now. And Kender, in addition to what you said, I do believe the PDI aftermarket outer barrels do not fit well with the UTG receivers. However, they do work with modification.

Sorry I was going off of what I was told a while ago, and lack of knowledge of UTG capabilities. I was just trying to help.
