Haha I'm not even married yet, but my fiance gives me a hard enough time for still being into airsoft. And we don't even live together yet... Time to start a Wives on Airsoft support thread up in here.

I don't take any bs from people on what I like to do. If my gf so much as said airsoft, games, or snowboarding is stupid or complained about me doing any of them even once, her ass would be gone. I've had too many past relationships where the b*itch tries to have control of my life, and that will never happen again.

Sometimes it's not about judgement, it's about priorities and obligations. My wife fully supports my airsoft addiction, but I still miss out on games because I have shit to do around the house or she needs a break from the baby and I can't provide that during the week working full time and going to evening classes. I understand dating a controlling girl, that sucks. But a part of being married is compromising. And there's a difference between her asking to change who you are and what you like, and asking for you to give up a weekend for her.

My parents have always been super supportive, even when I played backyard shit when I was around 13-15. They think it is even cooler now that it's a bit more professional and that we have our own forum.
To kind of show them how serious it can be and that we're not some stupid kids running around with springers, I showed them the ODA Gats and Gear thread. They were pretty impressed and it sort of clicked for them why I want to pursue this sport more and how I justify the funding I put into it.

It's a drug-free physical activity often in the outdoors with far less risk of injury than traditional contact sports and it promotes teamwork as well as self-accountability. It provides you with a healthy, ultimately non-violent, outlet for your aggression as you handle your teenage years with their increased hormones. Outside of initial costs it can also be an economical hobby and sport. To my knowledge nobody has ever got pregnant playing airsoft or impregnated someone.
Perhaps the stongest selling point though are the people you play with. Have them meet your "airsoft" buddies and see that they are good people not crazed teens looking to go "Columbine." Act mature and demonstrate that safety is important to you. If after doing all of that your parents still object to airsoft than your parents are just insane overprotective hippies and you should count the days until you are 18, can move out, and do what you want.
