Exactly why I want one, the different style of play. I learned that I do not like running into the heat of the action I like to sit back and call out the people so my team can take them out.

Well you don't want to just sit back either. Although I understand what you meant. Even though you may have additional range on an opposing player, as a DM you also want to take the shots that will give your team mates the advantage when advancing on an enemy. That might mean suppressing but at a longer distance with less shots than like one would as a SG, or it may mean flanking and taking out an enemy from a "safe distance" if they have a good spot on your team. Which is what I found myself doing a lot as a DM. Actually I found myself being a lot more effective being on the front lines and being able take kill shots on advancing players but from a longer distance then your person with the average gun could which can halt an advancing front. The DM is a very fun role however, just don't sit back like a sniper would with a bolt action rifle because you'll be far more effective closer to the font lines, since 1) you won't get quite the consistency, longer range and accuracy that a sniper will with a bolt action spring sniper rifle. And 2) semi auto and if shooting under 410fps, the occasional burst or use of full auto can really help.

So DMR is less of a sniper role and more of a support role? Not in the way of heavy fire but keeping people back just the same?

And when I mean suppressing I mean in hopes of permanently suppressing the enemy... But if you can put longer shots on an enemy by either killing them or keeping them from advancing because they know you out range them, then you're doing a good job. But again that's just one of a few different things that a DM can do.
