Hi, My older brother just had his first air soft experience yesterday at Phoenix Tactical and loved it. He has been thinking about getting an AEG after Christmas, a SCAR-L in particular. We have been looking at the G&G SCAR-L, but we are not sure what other companies we might want to look at. He would like to keep the budget at $340 for just the gun. Try and keep this thread usable as a reference that others can use if they are interested in a SCAR-L. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

To be honest, the G&G FNH SCAR-L is probably the best on the market. Echo 1 and D Boys also make them but they're not as good, IMO. And if all else fails, I'm sure there are numerous options that your brother would probably like to do with an M4/M16.
And if he wants to get a SCAR-H, D Boys is good as long as you get upgrade parts.
*Knief is right by the way.

This is where I ask you to use the search function, because there is already a lot of good information about SCARs on this board. It's a fairly popular gun, so we've discussed it at length in the past. I'll save you some trouble, here's the best SCAR thread on MiA: miairsoft.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=aeg&action=display&thread=26378But you should still do some more digging as well. Once you're done here, use Google. When you've exhausted that, head over to Arnies Airsoft and search their forum. Then, if you have any lingering questions, come back and ask. We are here to help you, but only if you put in some of the leg work yourself.

I had used the search function and Google, but it was basically all just D-Boys, the other clone company, and G&G. We were wondering if there was any sort of info we may be missing, so I started this to see if something may turn up here.

I've been rocking a D-Boys SCAR-L for almost a year now and I freakin' LOVE IT. Shoots like a dream, hop up is perfect (, really tight groupings (with a tightbore, haven't shot it with the stock barrel), and pretty good range.
I can't say anything about the internals because I've never taken it apart, but I've put through about 10k rounds through it, and I'd say the previous owner put through about the same amount. Never had any issues with it at all.
I'd highly recommend the D-Boys due to my experience, but I might have just got very lucky and got a gem of a gun. Honestly, my SCAR shot better than any of my other AEGs I've owned, including a TM FAMAS, TM M4A1, (1st gen) and a decked out CA M15A4. The D-Boys EASILY out-preforms all of them.

Yes, but does it outperform G&G w/out any modifications, and is it proportionally worth it's cost in comparison to G&G? That's the real question, and I am searching for an answer.

remember, 10K rounds over the course of a year is by no means ANY standard to measure a gun. Being MAYBE 2 bags of bb's I wouldn't even count that as enough to break in the gun, let alone be a durability standard. As Knief says, get back to us when you put 100K+ in the course of a couple months through it.

A G&G will easily outperform a D-Boys. G&G has been known to have outstanding replicas, so if you have the money to buy one, go for it. You shouldn't be disappointed. And will do Kender, I don't play nearly as much as I used to, so it'll take a while to hit the 100k mark. Regardless, for the $140 I spent I am very happy with it's performance.

Ok, so what I am getting from research and posts on the thread is that the G&G SCAR-L is the best of it's kind on the market out of the box. Am I not correct?

Based on what my research has led me to know, you are correct. G&G is a great company to buy AEGs from and their SCAR-L is the best on the market. Now if only they made a SCAR-H...
