Well, it depends on how cheap you want to go. JG guns are decent, for clones. And $100 definitely as cheap as you'll ever find a new gun that can go toe to toe with most other AEGs on the field. That said, you're more than likely going to have to fix it up sooner rather than later. You should also upgrade a few things before you play with it too much to ensure good accuracy and a little better reliability. A few things like a new bucking and a good shim job, along with a tightbore barrel will make the gun a bit more competitive on the field and allow it to last a bit longer than it would have. If you're looking for something cheap that you won't have to upgrade right out of the box (or fix in a couple of months), this is your best option: www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?cPath=139_24_237&products_id=3542The price difference is a little high, but you're also getting a gun that will work for a good long while without any tinkering and perform as well as any gun on the field (not counting those highly tuned lasers, but it doesn't look like that's your goal). So really, the choice is yours. Do you want a project gun to work on and build up, or do you want something field ready that will last a while?

As a project gun, JGs are great. They keep TM-spec, and have decently strong internals. They need a little fine-tuning to reach their potential though. A good shim job, and some easy DIY work on the compression parts will give you a strong performer. The newer JG motors (M93 red and M42 blue) are some of the best on the market as well.
