Just looks like a burr or a plastic shaving, but in any case that's giant. Also, your gun will work fine.

It looks like it could of been part of the trigger assembly.

My bet is that it's the spring from the take down lever, especially if it was in the front of your gun. Most springs in the M9 trigger assembly are torsion springs, and that's a compression spring. If it migrated, it could be from the hammer mechanism or disconnect, but that'd be a long way for it to travel. It looks to me like it could be part 81 or 61 if you found it on your barrel. But there are a bunch of little springs in this gun (my God HFC, simplify!).

Thanks for the diagram Knief, I will have to take it back down soon and check it out. I haven't fired any rounds through it since I found the spring, but it seems to function fine, and it fired fine on the field that night before I took it down.
