This is Coldwave's story in his eyes. I have posted this for him.
It's always calm before the storm and that's what it seemed like on the day of June 18th, 2009. I walked with my Captain in what seemed like a modern Vietnam. Everything turned quiet as we walked down this long narrow pathway. We couldn't see 8 feet in to the woods at our sides. The only option that seemed available was down the pathway. I looked at my Captain and seen his look on his face that what was ahead wasn't too good. He pointed down the path, to my amazement, was this small, makeshift log wall. It was made with branches and downed logs right off the side of the path at the end of the woodline. Behind the end of the woodline was a bean field where it seemed like we could see out a mile beyond that. My Captain, Phantom G3, told me to move up to a bare tree to give him some cover fire when he moves up. Once we were both together again, he told me to move up as do a fast paced walk with our weapons erect. Before we started moving he talked to our second squad to make a pincer movement. We were the spearhead to this small operation.
As we made our way closer and closer we caught them be surprise and they screamed to warn the others. There was only 4, but there was only two of us on a narrow pathway in the open. It was a suicide attempt, but I trusted my Captain to the fullest extent. Faster and faster we went, the more my heart beated until it was our range to fire. With guns blazing we took out 2 in the very begining. We moved to the sides of the path to give us more cover than the little we had. BB's whizzing by our faces we took out the last two without any casualties to our own. Our second squad never even made it up to the fight before we victoriously took out our foe. When the dust settled there were five red kill tags and one amazing story. Semper Fi.
