Recently, my KJW 1911 hammer has been getting caught on and internal part on the slide almost every time it cycles. Any thoughts as to fixing it? I can pull the slide back fast and let it go just fine, but if it gets caught when I fire it, I just give it a good knock to put it back in place.

I've had this problem on two different guns (one M9 and one Sig) and have yet to find a good solution. From what I've diagnosed, the problem isn't with the slide or the blow back unit (where it rubs in the slide), it's with the hammer/hammer spring. The hammer is being pushed up too hard by the hammer spring, and jamming up against the slide. This pushes the slide up and it jams itself against the rails.
Now, the two guns I've experienced this problem on have far more complicated hammer systems. On the 1911, it should be a pretty simple fix. Take out the main spring housing (at the bottom back of the grip) and make sure nothing in there is jammed up and the whole mechanism is bouncing freely. I like to rubber band the grip safety in place when I take the main spring housing out, just so I don't have to realign the leaf spring and sear/disconnector, and I'd suggest you do the same.
If the main spring and main spring housing are all honky-dory, check the sear, hammer, hammer strut, and disconnector to make sure that there's nothing in there causing the hammer to bind.
If you're still having problems with it, it usually helps to just take the whole thing apart and reassemble. Like I said, the 1911 hammer mechanism is pretty simple, and you shouldn't have to touch the trigger mechanism for this problem. They're thankfully very separate.

Thanks, I'll give that one a try.
Could I just file down the bump instead?
