I'm in the process of redoing the mech box of my gun and have not been able to find any information on the nozzle. What I'm wondering is how does it wear? Should it be replaced? How can I tell?

ok, i just got my upgrade kit today (YAY), so i think i know what you are talking about
the nozzle is the part of the gun that is touching the bb right before it is fired (the air goes through it), the stock nozzle has notches in it which reduces the possible fps, i have no idea what TM was smoking when they designed that, i would suggest getting a new systema one (it is perfectly circular thus using more air pushing the bb), it will increase fps some
it is hooked onto the end of the tappet plate (NOT FIRING SELECTOR) and is sadwiched between the tappet plate and the outside of the gearbox

Correct, but how do I know if it's being worn, in other words, you can tell a gear has worn by looking at the teeth and seeing rounded edges...

i dont see that it would be worn much at all, im looking at the pdw right now and that has a "few" rounds through it as you know, and i can tell no sign of wear however, i would still suggest buying a new nozzle if you wanted more fps with less power, for instance, im using an m100 and with the kit, it should be 350 fps minor things like the nozzle helps, and since i have to use a lesser powered spring, there is less wear on the gearbox edit: found the pic, systema on the left, stock on the right

So I'm thinking to myself, there HAS to be a reason TM went to the trouble to shape the nozzle the way it is. Why would they use the nozzle to decrease FPS when they could have spec'd their springs to be lighter? Wouldn't it have been a lot easier for them to make it round like the Systema?

...i have no idea what TM was smoking when they designed that... my thoughts exactly, I have nothing else to say
