Can someone tell me how the FPS of a gun compares to its range? does the more fps a gun has mean it has better effective range?
Thanks for the help

As fps increase the effective range increases.

usually, yes. If you couple extra fps with a tightbore barrel and heavier bbs, you will get maximum effective range. Play around with bb weights to find your longest acceptable effective range. You may find that you want a smaller grouping with shorter absolute range, usually better for aimed and controled fire, so you'd want heavier bbs. Or you may want a further absolute range so you can rain down bbs from afar using the spray-and-pray technique, so you'd want lighter bbs.

www.airsoftplayers.comClick 'articles'. Click Range and Accuracy Info. Read. Those articles (there's two) contain all you need to know about FPS and range, with a bit of bb-weight discussion thrown in.
