I have a SR16 that I am looking to upgrade to around 400 fps. I have modified the gun so far only in its appearance by adding a G&P SR25 Kit and a 6.04mm inner barrel. I am looking for the most durable and least expensive upgrade I can find. Any thoughts or ideas would be a great help. Thanks, -Merrick

This is kind of an oxymoron, but if I were you, I'd probably get in touch with WTS Mike and send your mechbox over to him for upgrading. If he can't do it, Combat Depot would be my bext choice.

I found out it will take at least a M120 spring, new gears, and metal bushings to take me up near 400 fps. Now to decide whether to try it myself or find someone with more experience.

If it's your only gun, get someone with experience to do it. Upgraded parts don't do any good in a non-functioning gun

get a helical gear systema gear set, metal bushings, and a M120
That should get you to 400fps without reinforcing the gearbox. You could do the installation yourself (which is not to bad if you find tutorials on the web for the SR-16 (and there are a lot out there). Or you could send it to Francois at Combatdepot.com he charges $35 and is great to work with.

my setup is:
Stock Marui Gearbox Alluminum piston head alluminum piston M120 Systema flat torque up gears shim set oilless bushings.
i've had that setup for around 18 months or so now... and i've only had to take it apart once for a problem.
(Problem was no big deal, screw holding the head to the piston came out and jammed the gearbox. 2 minute fix)
