might i suggest a mid-range speed, then?
around 350ish should satisfy both areas.
get a 130% spring by PDI and some oilless bushings.
might want to invest in a tightbore barrel...should only set you back around 30 bucks.
130% - 20 bucks bushings - 10 barrel - 25
350s about the max you'll find anyone wanting to be hit in CQB...not to mention the limit of most of Mike's games at M40.
rate of fire will be slightly lowered (from about 800 to 700rpm) if you're using mini batteries, so i'd suggest to get a good 9.6 volt if you havn't already. should put you at around 850 RPM or so with the upgrades.
Edit: modified for those who have difficulty following a train of thought.

I'm pretty sure Bill was joking. Methinks Bigmack was talking 850 rpm.

I'd go the other way and not upgrade the velocity at all. Instead, get a high speed motor and gears and get some insane ROF going. Beat Bigmacks 850rpm with 1200rpm. If you're in close quaters the majority of the time, you don't need any extra velocity and range. And the higher tension spring just slows down your ROF unless you add more "stuff." Plus, the hihger tension spring will eat your battery, and if you're still using the mini at that point, you might not be able to last an entire day.
For me, I'd worry about ROF before velocity in a CQB primary.

My ideas of 350fps/850rpm are for a balanced field and indoor weapon...but it all comes down to personal preference... i'd rather have the range edge on someone... not to mention not having to lead him as much.

I would go with Knife's suggested route, he said he wanted CQB gun and there fore if it’s true CQB you wouldn’t need added range or fps, just ROF. Now if you’re playing at some place like The Untouchable’s field then I would side with Bigmack's idea. While there is some CQB you first have a large expansion of no mans land which is pretty much unpentratable until one team's numbers are cut down by long range weapons. Also remember when aiming for 350 get a little lesser of a spring, when you add a new barrel and piston etc you add a little more fps each time, if you fall into the 360 range which is very easy you are there fore unqualified to played CQB via MIA rules.

Im putting in an m100 spring in my m4. I know that I also need to get metal bushings. What I want to know is what is the difference between oilless bushings and metal bushings? Also should I buy the metal spring guide of this upgrade?

get the oilless. teflon coated.
don't worry about the spring guide, its an upgrade that reduces stress on the gearbox in a high-spring situation. while it couldn't hurt, you won't benefit from it...
case in point, mines M120 powered...stock spring guide is still used.
