I want to get a M16a2 upgraded to about 400 fps
i have heard you only need bushings and a spring
could anyone fill me in about what all these parts do like aluminum piston heads, bushings, metal gears, torque up gears, fuse removal, ect.
Do they make your gun last longer and more dependable?
thanx a lot

Alright, i'll break it down for you.
Spring: increases the force on the piston, the easiest way of increasing your fps. Both Systema and PDI types.
Bushings: two types: Oilless: simple replacements of the stock nylon bushings. smooth metal, stronger than the nylon ones. Bearing bushings: Stronger than the stock ones, help to increase rate of fire. only for use up to 150% springs.
Piston Head: the stock nylon head isn't up to being slammed into the front of the cylinder at upgraded speeds...you can replace it with an aluminum one to increase it's durability.
Aluminum piston: Same reason for the head. Nylon one can't handle heavy upgrades.
All TM AEG's ship with metal gears, though it isn't of the highest quality.
Torque up, super torque up, ultra torque up gears: The gears that ship with the weapons aren't up to pulling back upgraded springs with ease. different gearing allows these gear types to do a much more efficient job.
Fuse removal: common occurance with upgraded AEG's is blowing the fuse. the load that the motor draws to handle the upgrade commonly blows the fuse...kind of gets rid of that annoyance.
dependability is a relevant thing... Gun is only as dependable as the quality of the upgrades.
if you just upgrade the spring, you run the threat of other parts being put under more stress.
Granted, just swapping out the spring and putting in some bushings is the easiest and cheapest way to upgrade your rifle... The problem with that...is you put the gears, and the piston under more stress.
