hello guys, i have a slight problem, i recently took apart my xm177 to replace some cosmetic parts and that entailed total disassembly of the gun minus any thing to the gear box, well needless to say after assembly when i went to make sure the damn thing still shot. the bb's now shoot in an arc and have almost no power behind them ! they might top out at 25 feet and thats where they fall. im looking for some help as this gun always shot much further and faster till i took it apart...thanx jason marsella

*nudge* Read the post again, Dice.
Dude, it sounds like you reassembled the barrel and hop-up system wrong. On Airsoftplayers.com there are diagrams detailing those units and how they go together. Good luck.

I read the post after just before Dice responded, and firefighter edited in quite a bit of that stuff, including the part about not disassembling the gear box.
So dice isn't completely incompotent (j/k, buddy, j/k).
So yeah, check your hop unit assembly, and it's alignment with the nozzle.

aye. check the hop-up assembly to make sure its on correctly...after that, i'd check the nozzle to make sure it wasn't bumped off the tappet plate.

HEY GUYS thanx for the tips. i took apart the gun again, and now have broken those cheap ass tabs on one side of the receiver, but i looked at the hop up unit and barrell and it seems i had moved this rubber type device that sits on barrell out of wack, also some one mentioned that there was suppose to be a spring on back of hop up unit and mine does not have one. perhaps i lost it or the xm dosnt have one. anyways the gun fires better now but still is not as good as it was before and now there is no consitency to where the bb's fly. some go straight some to left and hell i though some where gonna loop around and peg my ass....its funny i would not have added all those metal cosmetic accessories if i had known this wAS gonna happen

have you tried adjusting your hop up? Take the ting apart again and make sure that the little indent on the bucking is in the hole in the barrel. if it still doesn't work, you may need a new hop bucking. www.the6mmshop.com has 10 in stock at a great price (liquidation sale) www.the6mmshop.com/2.htmmake sure you put the small plastic cyilinder back in the right place in your hop unit (the piece that pushes down on the bucking to provide the adjustability). And once again, make sure your nozzle is aligned properly. [edit] Sorry, i forgot to warn you about the tabs on the armalite series bodies, they're notoriously weak (little late i guess).

yep i tried adjusting the hop up and had no luck, i feel like i am close to getting this fixed but am so far, now what exactly is a bucking ? got a picture?? there is a small clip type thing that isnt on the hop up that is missing but the barrell is held in place and the rubber sleve is in place so shouldnt be an air leak there, unless that small c-clip does more then i think...also maybe it would be worth getting a metal hop up unit and replacing the one i have???....thanx for help..keep it comming ..jason

The hop bucking is the rubber sleve. This is the Classic Army unit, but it serves the purpose I don't have experience taking down an XM, so i'm not quite sure what that C clip is for. I do, however know that they usually don't throw extra pieces into guns like they would a lego set, so you probably needed that for something. The systema hop unit requires some modifications to fit (Oh Newmie!), but i've seen the increase you can get from it and it was beautiful. There was a huge range improvement. BTW, if you end up needing parts, check to see if www.wgcshop.com has them, and then see if either www.wolverinetactical.com or www.combatdepot.com can source them for you.

You need the C- clip, and if you go to a metal hopup, then you have to permanently cut your lower receiver (unable to go back to the old style) I have the metal ones in stock if you need one...... $36 pic of hopup unit
